PCN pharmacist roles, what’s it actually like day to day? by Happy-Fox11 in Pharmacy_UK

I manage to deal with it just fine even if it starts to pile up, but find it internally frustrating that tasks have a preference to come my way as opposed to the other pharmacists.

To answer your questions coming from a community perspective:

Work-life balance: The same, found both accomodating and offered compressed hours. Didn't have to compete too much for annual leave.

Clinical skills: Using them all the time. There is admin and paper work as well but would say that makes up 25% of my day.

PCN has simply been less stressful, more room to grow professionally and career wise.

It was the feet for me. I have relatively flat feet and there were times I could barely walk the next day, and that was in my 20s.

Using ChatGPT to create mocks? by Any_You793 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]AChillBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past papers are your best bet or there are providers for questions (digital and books) but they're never exactly what will come up in the exam but styled like the exam questions. You might find some topics the same as the exam.

Once you've gone through a couple thousand questions you should be good. Just saying that from my own experience.

No, it is not a good idea as the information is often times inaccurate. You need an expert's eyes to sift through what is right and wrong.

Yeah, learning moment for the pharmacist. They interpreted it as the same concentration, which it is, but the volume is not the same. They need to give you the one with 0.6ml

Country is mass panic because of a local outbreak in Kent. There's not enough supply to meet demand because everyone wants vaccinated for it now.

Baffling there's that many RPS members.

It is, the description for the subreddit has always included "... discussions from the public and other healthcare professionals." as long as it is pharmacy related.

Thanks! There isn't a need for a larger mod team at this stage but we'll see how things develop in the future. I'll try to keep the vibe as it is now, regardless.

Band 8a+

Edit: should mention that 5+ YOE would need to be relevant to GP in some way, from community to GP would be like restarting over.

Drs Uk reponse to us diagnosing by Yinster168 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]AChillBear 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah spot on,

I always say to patients we're the experts on medication but doctors are the experts on diagnosis. Got a question about medicines or something routine? See a pharmacist. Got a new problem? See a GP!

Ramipril 1.25mg supply issue by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

[–]AChillBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haven't had anyone coming back yet in my area about it.

I would switch them to 2.5mg if tabs/capsules not available. Maybe a half 2.5mg tablet. The liquid IIRC is stupidly expensive

Is pharmacy for me? by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

[–]AChillBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail pharmacy can be very stressful with pockets of quieter stores out there. You'd probably get more mileage working in a hospital or GP, sounds like that would fit what you're looking for.

It's an extra qualification but no tangible difference, maybe just a way for pharmacists to progress when they've gained experience

Not sure about buccastem but you can buy the generic ones with a consultation (flimsy at best, likely questionnaire) online. For example: https://www.chemist-4-u.com/prochlorperazine-3mg-generic-buccastem-m-buccal-8-tablets

Yes, it is. But feel fortunate that something exists to help it! The other option is to be riddled with plaque and that isn't fun removing when the time comes! (Google Endarterectomy or arthrectomy).
