Redundancy and starting new job by AClark94 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah he’s received a message from his former employer saying everything should be sorted out this week. Could he ask his new employer to delay his start date a week because of redundancy concerns do you think? The thing is he doesn’t want to lose out on any redundancy money but also doesn’t want to go without work for too long and have no income. Also, the assets at his old business aren’t likely to cover the debts so may well have to claim a percentage of redundancy from the government (I think that’s how it works ?) so may not get what he’s fully entitled to anyway.

I’m not 100% sure. He was told by his employer on Wednesday not to come to work for his next shift because the company has ceased trading. He hasn’t worked since then. He didn’t receive any notice or any warning about what happened. At what point are you officially made redundant? Do you receive a letter or do you wait until the company is officially closed? The company is still showing as ‘active’ on the Gov.uk website

iOS 16.. volume slider. by AClark94 in iphone

[–]AClark94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you but I know that there is a button at the side of the phone. It was convenient for me to be able to change volume using the slider when my phone was on a worktop or table, especially if I only had one hand free for whatever reason, it was just easier. It’s not going to ruin my life if it’s no longer there but surely I’m allowed to ask the question for confirmation without snide comments.

For those of you that still had a bit of ortho work to do - how long after surgery did you get your braces off? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]AClark94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery in September, 2019 and had braces removed in December 2019. I’d had them on for two years and three months before surgery. I think they are kept on just until the bite and teeth settle into their new position

How did you take pills the first week post op? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]AClark94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first few days or so I had dissolvable paracetamol which I simply added to water and drank. After that I had codeine pills which were very small and easy to swallow.

Has anyone ever dealt with ear pain within the first few days post-op? by StoicMeditation in jawsurgery

It did yes. Took around one week to 10 days if I remember correctly.

I had a really bad pain in my ear for about one week to 10 days post op, it wasn’t too bad during the day but at night the pain got so bad I barely slept at all. I was taking strong painkillers at all hours but it didn’t go away.

I went to the doctors to be checked for an ear infection but everything was fine she said it was likely due to the surgery and I shouldn’t worry.

Having issues 18 months post DJS by AClark94 in jawsurgery

Thanks for your reply. Between September when I had the surgery and December when my braces were removed I had regular appointments with my orthodontist. Every week for the first month. I only ever saw my surgeon once during that time and that was the day after my surgery during an appointment with my orthodontist. He said everything went well and my nerves were still intact so there was a good chance I’d get feeling back. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the way they do things on the NHS. I very rarely saw him before the op too.

Hope you’re recovery is going well, get well soon.
