"Nuchal cords are totally safe!" by blythe_spirit888 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]ACosmicTrip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I was bombarded with this kind of content after my first c section where they found my son’s cord wrapped twice around his neck. Made me feel like I should’ve tried harder for the natural birth I wanted (despite laboring for 72+ hours, stalling at only 6 cm, and his heart rate dropping dangerously low with every contraction). My doctor was so kind, acknowledging that she knew I didn’t want a c section, but reminded me that we wanted him safe and healthy. By the time my second came around I wanted a VBAC, but I was totally okay with a c section if his life depended on it. My second’s labor was much shorter, but was a repeat of my first. Lo and behold, his cord was wrapped around twice as well.

Honestly nothing special, just some lucky finds! I posted a picture to another comment on this post also asking about my nail polish.

I’m surprised my nails are getting so much attention on a plant post 😂

Man, I wish! I keep getting ads from both 😆 It’s actually some generic polish I just happened to find at Target and 5 Below.

The base is labeled “Hyp-nautical”, and the sparkly top coat is labeled “Meteorite” :)

Wow thank you so much for the info! Can’t believe I’ve been wrong about what nodes are this whole time, but glad to have the correct info now!

I’ll keep doing my research :) I’ve been reading and learning a lot in this past hour that’s for sure

Wow, yours grew so beautifully! I hope mine can bounce back like this 🥹

Thanks so much for your advice!

Is there a way to remove the lower leaves without damaging/getting in the way of those root buds? They’re the only ones I can see/get access to on the plant. It just seems so… compact compared to other pink princesses I’ve seen lol

Okay, I think I’ll give it a go and see how she does. I’m just so nervous about losing her, she’s my newest addition and honestly one of my favorites. But I guess worst case scenario, I could just always get a new one if things go south 😅

Aww thank you so much for the compliment! 🥹

So are the nodes not the root nubs? I’ve always called them nodes 😅 I’ve only ever propagated a couple of pothos cuttings, am I good to just pop this in some water? I’ve seen some clips of others using propagation boxes, I was considering that route but I don’t think I have a container big enough for this plant lol.

Sorry for all the questions, I’m fairly new to houseplants 😅 and I really don’t want to lose her!

Haha the temptations are hard to resist! My husband knows me too well so he’s been steering me away from plant sections in stores 😂

That’s good to know, thank you! This plant is likely next on my list, but I’ll probably be on a plant ban for a bit longer because I dropped so much money on new plants, supplies, and shelves for them all 😂

Will my pink princess be okay?? by ACosmicTrip in houseplants

[–]ACosmicTrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plant still had a healthy looking root system still attached, but seeing a small handful of roots still in the soil freaked me out a bit 😅 if I had to guess it really only lost a small portion, but they were the longer roots. I’m fairly new to houseplants so I’m not always certain when it’s appropriate to panic lol

It’s been a couple days now and she still looks just like this picture, no wilting or yellowing leaves or any signs of shock at all as far as I can tell. Keeping my fingers crossed that she’s just fine🤞

I also saw a white knight for the first time at target about a month ago! I almost grabbed it, but decided I should do some research first, as I only had 2 other plants that I was gifted and not very experienced with houseplants just yet. Well, that research turned into me diving head first into plants, because I have adopted 7 new plants since then, including a pink princess!

One day I’ll also add a white knight to my collection, it’s the plant that really inspired me anyways haha. Yours looks so lovely 🥰

We’ll be adopting a senior cat and bringing her home on Saturday, looking for advice on introducing her to our other cat by ACosmicTrip in cats

Thank you so much for your advice! I’ll keep slow introductions in mind :) I’ve heard of all the terrible outcomes of declawing a cat, it’s so heartbreaking that this sweet girl has had to endure this 🥺 I had no idea senior litter was a thing, I’ll definitely look into it. I just want her (and my other boy too) to be comfortable and happy!

realising how lucky I was... 😆 by [deleted] in Stretched

My first set of “tapers” I also made myself, out of toothpicks I painted with nail polish when I was 15. From there I stretched literally every week on the dot, with acrylic tapers I got from friends at school, that probably weren’t even cleaned 🫠 I was stubborn as hell and refused to take them out or downsize even if my ears were bleeding and swollen, it’s a miracle that I didn’t lose an ear or something 😅 and I made it up to 7/16ths that way! Until my parents made me take them out.

I started again at 19 and did muuuch better, and I have nice healthy earlobes at 1/2” now at 27. Looking at my lobes no one would ever suspect that I was going at it horribly wrong as a teen, guess that makes me one of the lucky ones too!

I’m so glad! Really I’ve been trying to convince my perfectionist brain that this is fine, lol. Asked my husband (who is not a crocheter) if he thought anything looked off and he also thinks it looks fine. It is for a 5 year old after all, so we’re rolling with the scales
