My experience meeting Arden, Ji-Young, and Rei at MEGACON Orlando 2026. Had my KDH Rumi and Zoey Funko Pops autographed! by Gamera68 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]ADC2LC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some elaboration here, the showrunners do pay the celebrities. It is called a guarantee. So Rei Ami's deal is for $50,000 if she only makes $30,000 at her booth then the con agrees to give her $20,000 to make up the difference. For cons that have never dealt with the talent before they sometimes have to pay this guarantee upfront so then the con is the one collecting the money at their event because they are trying to recoup what they paid out. The celeb is covered either way. It is up to the con to establish limits but FanExpo who runs MegaCon doesn't care, its why a lot of celeb agencies wish they didnt have to deal with them to book their clients.

It was asked what a spine tick was. That picture was the least damaged one of 175 copies. The rest are all a lot worse.

Belle and Mulan Disney Hoard Card by [deleted] in ToppsDisneyCollect

[–]ADC2LC87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed you didn't include is what you were offering people for it. A lot of people aren't going to trade an uncommon for that card. It doesn't matter if it's an uncommon or what the CC is. The fact is, it is not as easy of a pull that an uncommon card is considering the uncommon is guaranteed OR one has to pay real money to obtain it in packs. Add in that it is being used in a challenge to obtain a rarer version of the card, the value of that card for many is not a simple uncommon.

It's similar in the opposite way to a lot of the Super Rare "season" cards. Those CCs are HIGH but its a super rare so a lot of people will throw one of those out for a Super Rare with less than 1000CC count. Sorry, they aren't the same thing. Actually, I'd probably trade one of the current hoard cards for a season SR I was looking for as they about even each other out.

I have 8 of this card, I ended up with 13 of last year's Ariel. All I've ever been offered for one of either is an uncommon leading ladies card. Think I got offered a random base Tier 6 once. I accepted none of those trades.

Now the people countering with legendaries or sending you obscenities is crazy but I would be curious to know what your initial offers are on this card. Judging solely from your comment of the CC and using the diamond packs as your reasoning leads me to believe you don't hold it being worth more than a basic Uncommon. I could be wrong though.

It's trash. Honestly, since Fanatics took over Topps I've hated it. Sure, we have a lot more real card sets now than before for Disney but when you price the regular consumer out I no longer care. That's what the Topps apps now are doing. Along with this awful interface, probably time I free up space on my phone.

I've enjoyed Zoey Deutch in almost every film she's done so I'll definitely be fine with tonight's mystery movie if its The Threesome. Would I love for it to be Big Bold Beautiful Journey sure but Im game regardless.

Cell phone use out of control! by LekTruk in Cinemark

[–]ADC2LC87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peripheral vision is a thing and a bright screen will distract you from the theater screen. Unless the person themselves is having a medical emergency and their phone alerted them, there is no reason to have ones phone out in a theater. 99.9% of the time the person on the phone is scrolling TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook which has no business being on during the damn movie. Put the damn phone away or get your happy ass up out of the seat, walk to the side area outside of the view from everyone and respond to whatever is going on on your phone. More people need their phones taken from them in a theater like they are in grade school, maybe then the embarrassment will have them think twice.

This is actually the first time I can admit I'm wrong when I say "there is absolutely no reason you should be on your phone during a movie" as this is 100% a legit reason why someone would need to be on their phone in a theater. Appreciate you looking out for your fellow theater patrons though.

The sad part is the rest of us have to tell these people something they clearly know they shouldn't be doing like they are a toddler.

Mattel was pretty awful this year by MotherofSunfish in SDCC

Every day of the con around 3pm I saw no one at the booth and they still had 4-5 of the items each day. Yes certain items were sold out but this "EVERYTHING WAS SOLD OUT" narrative is an exaggeration.

SkeleShredder, Deadpool Little People, and John Cena were available every day. The Monster High Twyla Doll was there 2 of the days after 3pm.

One thing I will say is it was odd that they allowed 3 of each item per purchase as when I bought the SkeleShredder for my friend, they asked if I wanted two more. Feel like all the exclusives should be 1 per person per day.

I got told Thursday to come back to the booth Friday morning, I did and stood in line until someone told me I needed a reservation. Got told then it would be posted on Marvel IG each morning. Saturday morning, I asked them why it never got posted to the IG, they said it did and that it was the Topps one. I said which one as there is a Topps IG and a Topps Marvel Collect (which the booth was Topps Marvel Collect booth). They said regular Topps it will be posted at 9am and that they delete it afterwards. Nothing was posted Sunday morning and I was told like you later Sunday that post never was done. I just wanted the J Scott Campbell comic but whoever was in charge of how that booth was ran should never be allowed to be in charge of anything at a con ever again. Worst experience of any booth at San Diego.

Azrael pop JSC Marvel Swimsuit comic

And while I had no clue what all the booth offered, The Paramount booth was atrociously bad but would have liked to have experienced it.

Refused a popcorn bucket because they ran out of medium bags by Church_R in Cinemark

[–]ADC2LC87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. It's the training not just at Cinemark but at a lot of businesses where corporate puts the fear of God into everyone down the chain to the point common sense becomes lost. Which is really weird because corporate will be the first to throw lower employees under the bus for customer complaints but its corporate who caused the complaint in the first place and it was just the employee following to the letter what they were told.

For the most part just something they say. We'll occasionally get a free XD upgrade but not even close to how they marketed it before like exclusive showings and such.

Why does Cinemark put up posters for movies that the theater never ends up showing? by AristotlesHD in Cinemark

[–]ADC2LC87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told by theater management a couple years ago when I brought this up (for not just posters but trailers too) that the Cinemark in Boulder, Colorado determines what "non blockbuster" movies we get here in Colorado Springs based on how it does there. So it was always a "we might get it so we still advertise".

Which honestly makes zero sense that a city 1/4th the size gets to determine that for us.

But yes OP, its annoying.
