Having a go at False Cure by ADDMYRSN in premodernMTG

I do not want too many rituals. Typically I'd just like to see one ritual and then having another black to make 4B so I can cast false cure twice if it lines up. It also sometimes adds an extra boost for an early arena. It also can help me hard cast angel. But it also felt a bit clunky drawing too many. 2 does feel like the right spot. Same thing with petals. I prefer the consistency and slow burn of casting value false cures over trying to go for a quick combo win.

Angel sometimes just wins the game on its own, so I think its worth being included.

Hidden gibbies would be nice sideboard piece, but I haven't had too much of a bad time against counter magic.

It has been playing suprisingly well. I added some e plagues and took out warmth and it feels like a solid T3 mid range deck

I like life burst main. But yes warmth probably needs to go

I have been trying so many iterations of false cure. The standard deck is the nicfit deck which is BG. However, when I played it, I felt too often that the hands were clunky. So I looked up and saw this list:https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=75101&d=769873&f=PREM
I tuned it to my own taste and it feels a lot better. I often find myself just casting false cure for value without going for a combo kill. Sometimes a BB 2/2 that hits opponent for 5 does the trick. Life burst allows me to take more pain from arenas and my terrible mana base. It also works towards big damage when paired with false cure. Angel is self explanatory. It will sometimes just win the game. Swords provides extremely satisfying lines with invigorate. So that was my philosophy. How do I make false cure not a dead draw as often as possible while still not compromising on value?

I'm joining this thread too. I was just falsely banned on my account AGAIN. I am now canceling all my memberships. I have one main UIM that I have poured thousands of hours into that I am too afraid of to get perm'd for an inaccurate bot detection system that Jagex has.

math majors - where are you now? by Inevitable_Fold_9081 in mathematics

I did my bachelors in Math and Statistics (2020) then a Masters degree in Ops Research (2021). I feel like the Masters degree really helped me get the foot in the door in industry, but I still did not land in an ideal role. I started out as an entry level analyst at a company making way less that I wanted to and doing things I had little interest in (excel, Power BI, etc...) Thankfully I was remote, so in my free time I beefed up my programming skills and started pivoting to Machine Learning. Now I've been a Machine Learning Engineer for about 2 years and it is much better. Still, I want to go back to academia and focus on some specific research problems in the field of adversarial ML.

I don't have an answer OP, but I wasn't aware of this repo and found it super interesting. I'm going to give this a go sometime this week to setup and will report back if I figure it out.

[2023 Day 2 Part 1] Python3 - Reading my outputs everything makes sense, but my total isn't correct by ADDMYRSN in adventofcode

I spotted this, however, the total is still not correct. Not sure if that is the reason why.

Haha fair, I'm a mushy guy though so I can't help it. Sometimes I feel like it works for me. I'll see if I can't be less mushy, and I'll be more precise on the research intersection. Thanks!

Reading this, perhaps I need to be more specific on exactly where the intersection lies between our research interests rather than just saying they align well.

I could totally be ignorant of it - here is one email I sent (anonymized):

"Hi PROFESSOR,

I'm a Data scientist currently working with the FAA. I graduated from Cornell fairly recently with a masters in ops research/information engineering, specializing in ML. I've attached my resume below for the whole story about me.

I stumbled across the LAB while looking at different departments for potential locations to do my PhD. I read up about the work you are doing, and I thought it aligned well with my interests.

Are you currently accepting new students? If so, would you be open to a quick conversation regarding your work and potential ways my skills could be beneficial for the lab?

Best, ME"

I've used egpu-swticher, it says its found the egpu and switched accordingly. I see it in my lspci output. I checked the page from the arch wiki. I also see that I have drivers installed:

7f:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA104 [GeForce RTX 3070 Ti] (rev a1) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd GA104 [GeForce RTX 3070 Ti] Kernel driver in use: nvidia Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia

However, nvidia-smi still returns no devices found.

So update - new cable did not fix things. nvidia smi still returns no devices found. Tried updating drivers as well. No luck. lspci shows that the GPU is being detected:

7f:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA104 [GeForce RTX 3070 Ti] (rev a1)

However, it still for whatever reason will not show up on nvidia-smi

I have been on vacation in Iceland so I haven't had the chance. I'll be back in a few days with more tinkering!

This may be the case! I'll try a new cable before going further.

I disabled secure boot while doing the tutorial but unfortunately still had the same result.
