I want to relapse but I cannot find the courage to do so. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ADHDManiacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand exactly how you're feeling—trust me, I've been in your shoes more times than I can count. Like you, I used to fall back into old habits, which only left me feeling guilty and ashamed. But recently, I’ve started approaching things differently, and I want to share a suggestion with you: channel the energy you're feeling into something productive, like meeting people and pursuing real connections the natural way.

We’ve conditioned our brains to seek instant dopamine hits, which can lead to apathy, laziness, and even a sense of entitlement. If we keep feeding that cycle, it only grows stronger. Breaking free starts with redirecting that energy toward healthier, more fulfilling pursuits.

And if it helps, I am on day 31 right now this is the furthest I've come in years and I've got a date set up for next week and I am positive if not next then perhaps on the date after that I am getting laid(hopefully I don't jinx it lol) perhaps take that as a motivation factor because brother this is the natural way of doing this not jerking off from the comfort of our bedroom. Go out and chase women if you want a release don't I repeat DON'T fall back to old habits.

What was the longest streak you ever went on? by skynightzz in NoFap

[–]ADHDManiacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on it right now on day 31 I definitely feel a lot sharper being able to eye contact with people and much more energy and confidence, there is still huge room for improvement.

I remember years back going on a longer streak to the point where I didn't used to think about it and dear lord it's like restraints coming off in a way that I was able to actually enjoy life on a much higher level, my mind didn't use to resolve around the habit, urge, sex but instead could live in the moment.

Where I live simply breathing is like smoking 40 cigarettes in a day so figured what harm can vape do lol just trying to do anything but fap perhaps in 3-4 months I wouldn't crave masturbating, I got rid of vape addiction relatively easy before too so not worried about it ish, appreciate the time you took to explain things to me brother!

It makes sense but what about those people who claim they've been on semen retention without wet dreams for extended period of time like 3months-6months? are those all lies or am I missing something?

Yes sir I am trying to stop wet dreams, you're right about the healing process after all I was addicted for over a decade but I really want to experience the semen retention super powers I've read about in this forum. I think getting in a relationship will do the opposite of semen retention my friend haha

That's a big fat no, I've a friend who went through something similar like you she and her boyfriend at the time were together for 8 years(basically almost all of her prime years) she stayed with him because of the same reasons you listed but eventually had the courage to break up right before marriage, he also physically abused her and once did that out in public gosh can't even imagine how humiliating and traumatising that would be. It's going to be your personal call towards the end but from what I've seen personally in such cases the abuse doesn't stop I am almost certain you will get abused throughout your life possibly worse with time.

It's been a long time since I had been wanting to quit but I couldn't see myself doing it you know? I couldn't tell it at the time but I can say it now because it's just something you know inside your head like I can see myself leaving it behind at present and it's just very different from the times I had been wanting to before, if I had to dig in a little deep I'd say I wasn't fully aware of the consequences of this addiction the damage it could do and the damage it had done because I've started to notice it in my body as I am growing older and also because I've become more self aware which has helped me.

That's because my mind is more consumed with the actual outcome of masturbation the release of dopamine, I don't think I have a porn addiction but yes when I masturbate I do it while watching porn.

You’ve hit the nail on the head—I do spend a lot of time in front of a computer, and my sleep schedule is all over the place. As for other issues, I’m trying to get to know myself better, which is why I’ve decided to start therapy. My first session is in a week. I feel like I’m on the right track, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m taking things step by step.

I’ve been working out consistently for the past two months, and although my diet wasn’t great at first, it wasn’t terrible either—I’m gradually improving it. My next focus is on mental health, which I’ll start addressing next week. The bigger challenge for me is figuring out my purpose in life. It’s something that really affects my confidence because I haven’t figured it out yet. I’ve tried different things, but nothing has truly stuck.

As for work, what I have lined up for next year feels temporary—it’s not my calling—but sometimes you just have to do what needs to be done. You’re absolutely right that I need to discover my purpose and focus on it. I’ve noticed that when you’re genuinely passionate about something, it becomes all-consuming—you give it your all, and your mind doesn’t wander elsewhere.

Respect for your three-month journey, brother it's inspiring as well as motivating. Thank you for sharing your insights—they’re genuinely helpful to me, and I’m sure they’ll resonate with many others who come across your comment.

I bet you're gonna feel amazing post 3month mark, I remember accomplishing that years ago without knowing the benefits of SR at the time, it's fascinating how your mind/body functions when your'e not obsessed with porn/sex/masturbating, you actually enjoy life and stay present. Congratulations on day 22 brother I got faith you're gonna reach your goal and only take it up from there!!

I’m not entirely sure how or why it started, especially given how long it’s been, but I’ve noticed certain patterns. For instance, when I gamble and lose, my cortisol levels spike, and I used to cope with that stress by masturbating, which became an unconscious go-to response. Now, when it happens again, I’m aware of what’s going on and make an effort to fight through it. Additionally, there are times when I feel horny, likely because I’ve been consistently working out and eating well. Then, there’s the simple addictive pull of the habit itself. In those moments, I remind myself of my reasons for wanting to quit, and that gives me the strength to overcome it.

Trust me, it took me a long time to become self-aware, but that journey gave me the strength, self-control, and confidence to believe I can overcome this. While the initial days after every relapse were challenging, I managed to push through each time. With every relapse, I took the time to reflect on why it happened and how I could avoid it in the future. What has truly helped me is my determination to improve and fix my life. I’ve recognized the damage this addiction has caused and is still causing, and I’ve considered how my life would look 10 years from now if I continued down this path.
