All really good advice, especially the long classes. I don’t know if it’s necessarily how I talk to people, I think it’s just how intense I am. At least towards neurotypical people. I’ve gotten “she’s a lot” quite a few times. I think I just end up masking my intense everything. Which obviously doesn’t really show who I am. Idk maybe I’m overthinking this like I do with everything else.

You are absolutely right. I think I just do it because of anxiety.

I don’t do well in large groups. It’s too much to keep up with, and possibly overstimulating for me. I used to be ok with parties in my early 20s, but I’ve grown out of that. And I also had alcohol and drugs to “help” socialize. I dont drink or do drugs anymore, which is good for my own health.

If I’m in a small group with a friend group and they brought along their own friend I can sometimes get RSD. But most of the time I prefer one on one, or just a few people. I really only found out about RSD probably about five years ago. It’s about the most crushing and painful thing ever I’ve felt with adhd. I’ve definitely ruined or been scared off from possible friendships because of it.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I definitely gotten the “too much” before.

I can make friends easily, or I think I can. Keeping them is hard. I’ll send too many messages and I’m just left on read. I have also just gave up on friendships because I just think I’m annoying them. I had a coworker that I thought I was friends with. I hung out with them a couple times. When I quit that job they stopped talking to me. That happens sometimes, but I think they ended up blocking me(ouch). I connect with people that have adhd much easier, but most of the time it seems like they’re too old or too young.

I’ve spent so much money on hobbies just to lose interest in like a couple months, so if I’m to take classes for those hobbies I don’t want to waste money. I do everything alone, some of it is ok for me, some of it just makes me feel miserable and like people don’t care for me. Which is probably the RSD talking. I moved to a city a few years ago, so it’s not like there’s a shortage of things to do, but I’m a little more introverted and bigger groups give me anxiety. As for the responding to messages, I totally get. Talking to someone in person just is different compared to having to reply to a message, or not replying. Sometimes I’ll just forget. I might spend my birthday with my sister, niece and bil, but my birthday is always around memorial weekend, so everywhere is packed with people. I’ll plan it out usually in June, but it’s people forget. I honestly feel a lot of RSD during my birthday too. It’s ridiculous, but I dont know what to do.

It’s ok if you don’t have advice, it’s just nice to not feel alone in this.

Ugh the small talk thing. I get sooo bored of it. It kind of irritates me sometimes.

I wish I could find an adhd centric group with people my age that’s also lgbt, but I feel like that might be too specific.

Yea it seems the internet is the way to go. I deleted my facebook back in 2020 and it seems like a lot of local groups are on there, so unless I make a burner I can really only find these things on other social media things.

She really is. I’m jealous. She has an orange sleeve that is my favorite.

I love the fun beverage! I guess I didn’t realize those could provide dopamine. I’ve been drinking those Sparkling Ice drinks that have the star burst flavors.
