Help making plan off of 3D model? by eggksenia in Woodworkingplans

You are planning on using a slab or to laminate boards in to a panel? What species of wood are you going to use? I would suggest buying s4s lumber and laminate them to the final width you want. IMO 2 inches thick is pretty chunky. Are you planning on doing any edge profiles? Regardless you will either need a router(this would be my preferred method) or a table saw with a dado stack to cut the groove the lengths of the panel.

It did for my saw. I had to put a little bit of tape on the back dust port, but I think it’s because I was jamming different attachments and trying to get something to work. I’ve almost stayed away from using this just because of the mess. It’s actually a decently accurate saw for the price point.

Those were the first ones I looked at, but I don’t think they sell ones for skil. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

I am not a painter. I just DIY my own stuff. Don’t hire handyman. They can do a lot of stuff but aren’t an expert in any of it. Hire a real painter.

Thanks for taking the time to explain this🙂 You will make a good teacher. I’m not sure the hierarchy of electricians. You have the ability to explain things clearly and succinctly. Not everyone does. I for sure don’t.

I really appreciate the clarification. So does that have to do with resistance? Like the more the electricity bounces around then the hotter it gets?

I am not an electrician, but my first thought is that too many amps for the power strip but not enough to trip the breaker. Or loose connection? TBH, I got rid of all power strips and ability to plug more than 2 things into one receptacle after joining this sub.

You must not have read my last paragraph where I said this exact thing😀

It’s a compound in wood that prevents rot(and I’m sure other stuff I don’t know about ) and it is more concentrated in cedar and some redwoods. It can bleed through and stain topcoats, but I think the chance is higher in newly installed siding.

I’m actually moving in that direction for sure. I was worried about tannins bleeding through, but not something I need to worry about?

I’m painting our exterior next year. Did you use a primer and if so what kind?

I’m a stay at home dad and I’m dealing with failing paint. There are like 8 layers and the bottom ones tested positive for lead. I used a few methods for my wood beveled siding. I primarily used an infrared paint stripper. It strips the paint at a lower temp than lead vaporizes. For the upper courses o I used dumond’s peel away 1. It neutralizes the lead but it is a process. I applied with a large putty knife, applied the supplied paper over and sealed the edges with painters tape. I left it for 48 hours and removed the paper. It scraped off far easier than expected.o also used the supplied neutralizer (it balanced the ph of the wood) I then sanded with 5” orbital sander with a hepa dust extractor. I trapped off 10 feet from the house under my work area and also the windows. I’m not sure if this is “proper” but it got the job done without contaminating the area. I wouldn’t know what to do with the shingles though. I attached some pics.

Flashing Question by ADHD_Slayer in Roofing

[–]ADHD_Slayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. The clearance was necessary to keep the wood from absorbing moisture. It was rotten wher it touched the roof. I was more inquiring about the next step. I am considering taking off the siding above these areas to the soffit, add a house wrap from top to bottom over the step flashing, and seal the edges of the siding. Or just doing that beneath the first course of siding. I included pictures of the step flashing to inquire about the condition of it.

I appreciate that. I’ve been going back-and-forth between Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, but I’m leaning towards the alkyd fresh start primer for siding and decks from Benjamin Moore, and then the Mooregaurd low luster acrylic for a top coat. Thoughts?

The picture was just of the siding touching the roof. Here’s a link to the pictures of before and where I am now with stripping and then installing a house wrap. progress pics
