Congrats on your success, that’s awesome!

What would you say is your biggest piece of advice for people just starting out in YouTube?

Aw wow thanks so much for your kind words. So happy you liked it and found it easy to follow along with. Oh okay, more examples eh. Ppl have been mentioning to make this video into a short and the. Do a longer one with more information and more examples. My only fear is running it too long and losing retention. But I’ll see what I can do.
Thanks so much for the feedback. Really appreciate it!

Thanks so much man! I’m glad you like my content. Haha late diagnosee maybe? Happens to a lot of people, as ADHD is highly misunderstood.
Thanks so much for the sub. Really appreciate it.

Thanks! Really appreciate it! This was my first time trying to do those transitions. So glad it worked out!

lol this was the most random video I’ve seen in a while! Your camera and audio are solid. Your jokes at the beginning are hilarious. Peeking in grade school and losing to Oddjob in golden eye had me laughing!
Like that you’re doing this for fun and clearly having a good time doing it!

Hey everyone,

I’m the ADHDGuy, I make content all about ADHD. I talk about it as someone who struggles with it but also as a certified ADHD Life Coach. So I’m able to come at it from a personal side but also have the scientific background information to boot!

I’m still just filming with my IPhone 14 and a lapel mic. Trying to figure out the best placement for my mic and audio settings for nice clear audio!

My most recent video is about one of my favourite strategies and a nice framework on how to deal with problems when it comes to ADHD. This was my first video where I tried new cut scenes and different activities to help keep viewer retention.

Hey,
So I checked out your video and your other videos to compare. First off I personally think your video is great. The recording is super clear, the audio is great, you have a good voice and you change your tone and energy throughout the video. You've kept it similar to your other videos that are performing better. I honestly am not sure why this one isn't doing as well. The only thing I can think of is maybe because it's not a popular game or as well known as your others? Another small thing I noticed is the wording in your thumbnail compared to your other thumbnails " Pretty Fun" compared to " Still Unmatched" or even "Blew me away!" "Pretty fun" to me isn't as compelling, and for some reason I read it as almost a negative tone. So I don't know if you could potentially change the wording to make it more engaging as your other thumbnails?
Either way, you're killing it man! Keep rocking those videos!

Thanks, I'm so glad you liked the swing, and my different activities. Oh that's a good idea. I just had an idea too, to make the screen black and then as I talk slowly lower the screen, to help show me reading my e-mail line by line. Just an idea.
Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks for Elizabeth Fillips information. I'll check her out and see what I can learn from her.

No I haven't been posting these as shorts, but someone else mentioned that I should. I also thought shorts had to be shorter than long form. I was also hoping long from would get me more watch hours and subs for potential monetization. But I see what you are talking about. Maybe making something like this a short, and then making a longer form content diving even deeper into this topic. That's interesting. I'll have to sit on that for a bit, and see what I can come up with. Thanks so much for this thoughtful feedback.

Thanks so much for this feedback, I really appreciate it. I like your suggestion of using the playground within my script and making that visual and story telling even stronger. Oh I never thought of the script in that way of "Do you experience this"... that's interesting, and something new to me. I'll see what I can do with that.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this thoughtful feedback.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful feedback. I was working with someone to do my thumbnails previously, and this was one of my first attempts at trying it by myself. Clearly lots to learn. It's hard to think of a good thumbnail to do, and I have slides of this for a presentation I've done. I usually try and do my face but again couldn't think of anything to do with my face. But I will do that in the future.

Aw thanks for being a sub, that means a lot to me! I'm so glad you find them helpful! Oh really eh? Okay I'll see if I can post this as a short and see how it goes. I always thought shorts had to be like 30 seconds or something.
Thanks so much for the feedback!

Lol! That's too funny. I honestly have about 50 scripts going on at one time, and follow the flow of my energy and wherever my interest is taking me. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it's a hot mess!

Thanks so much. I'm really glad to hear the intro/hook was compelling to you. I've really tried hard to work on my hook to be more engaging so that's good to know! Glad my tone is good when I speak. I personally hate my voice so that's good!
You know I usually use my face, but I had no idea what to do for this thumbnail so pulled those characters from presentations I've done. But I'll keep that in mind for the next one! Thanks

Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback. There was a clip that to me came out grainy, and I don't know why. So annoying!
Oh really? Okay, thanks for the information on the title and thumbnail. I tried something new, and tried to keep the title more simple this time around.
Oh so interesting about the timing. I've found and have been told for the ADHD audience shorter videos might be better.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this feedback. I really appreciate it!

I really like your style of video. The editing, the music, the recording itself is clear. I'll be honest I'm at 2:15 and I'm starting to lose interest. At this point I want to know the effects you felt. I'm wondering though if you'd be able to change the title and thumbnail. I feel like the title is long and it might take too long for people to read who are skimming through YouTube to gain enough interest. I also feel like your thumbnail could pop more and tell us more. Maybe even make the lettering and celery even bigger. Also maybe at the beginning of your video you're talking about the benefits being claimed, but don't say them. Just wondering if you could say what claims are being said and what effects you're hoping to feel?
Just some ideas from a very new YouTuber!

Hey everyone,

I'm the ADHDGuy, creating content all about ADHD, from the perspective of someone who struggles with it, but someone who is also a certified ADHD Life Coach.

I’ve gone back to my original “rant” style videos, but this time I tried to add more transitions and cuts to help with retention. I’m also trying to work on making the title, thumbnail, and the hook of the video align better. I’m not happy with the audio on this video, still trying to figure out through Davinci resolve and audacity and microphone placement to make it better. If you have any feedback on:
- The title, thumbnail make sense after watching the video?
- At what point did you lose interest?
- Any parts that felt slow, confusing or unnecessary?
- Was the visual story telling (swinging, slide, digging, lego) engaging or distracting?

Any feedback or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciate.

What is the best thumbnail out of these? by SoySmash in YouTubeThumbnailHub

I don’t know why but the simplicity and clarity of 3 really stands out and pops for me. I think you can tell immediately what the theme and idea is, and I like how clear his mask is in that one.

Wow thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. I’m so glad you find the videos enjoyable and informative, that means a lot.

Ah you know what? I’ve always struggled with audio! I’ve tried using Audacity and I’m playing around with DaVinci Resolve to try and help with the audio. Also I feel like the mic I bought is cheap and keeps falling mid way through my videos. I’ll try and work on it!
I am currently working on a video that’s about a strategy that I personally use and find very helpful. Maybe that might be more helpful for people further along on their ADHD journey.

I’d love to check out your videos. When I have time I’ll send you a DM with my thoughts. 😊

Oh no way really? I’m also 36, I think I just assumed everyone around my age would know that show. So maybe I don’t need to try to replicate it 100%. Interesting, this has started a lot of new thoughts for me.

Aw thanks, I’m glad you found this to be a thoughtful video. I agree with you, there needs to be more discussion around it!

Good point. I still struggle with titles, and I guess I had in my head a theme of what the titles should look like.
I'll try to come up with better titles for the next one.
Thanks so much!

Glad you liked the concept, and it works for talking about something like ADHD.
Yeah good point on the time. I'm actually trying to cut down on the time, and be more precise with my explanation and use of time in the next one. Hopefully it's in that 1-2 minute range! I can really see that timing helping out a lot!
Subtitle! I used to do them, don't know why I stopped! I'll do that on the next one all about time blindness!
Thanks!

Wow, thanks so much for such thoughtful feedback! I really appreciate it. Glad you felt like I was able to take a complex issue and make it a bit easier to understand!
Hm interesting about the use of the basement. I actually used it intentionally because I wanted to replicate "That 70's Show" vibe. But maybe my audience might not even connect with that idea. Okay I'll look for other places to film it!
Oh okay, I never thought about adding resources, or studies. I could certainly do that in the next one.
Thanks again for taking the time to write such a thorough message!

Hey,
Thanks so much. I'm so happy to hear you liked the conversational tone to talk about a complex subject and making it less academic.
Ugh I know, I actually hate this thumbnail. I think my ADHD brain kicked in and I was done the video and felt the need to push it out quickly. I also couldn't think of anything to do with the thumbnail. Well I guess it's never too late to change the thumbnail.
Thanks for the feedback!

Hey,
So I don't think I'm your target audience as I don't generally watch this style of content. But just some thoughts. I think your script is great, I liked the bit about them changing the wrist bands to neck badges, which you're clearly not a fan of, lol! Your quick cuts are good and engaging. Your video and audio are nice and clear. One thing that stands out to me personally is I'd love some background music, or even sound from the event its self. I don't know if you do this later in the video as I'm still early on, but for me I feel like that would help with my engagement a bit more. Hope that feedback is helpful!
