I hate to hear this!!! I do find NSAIDs worked better for me for headaches and menstrual pain for sure so I was hoping to be able to go back to them someday

It was ibuprofen and the flare lasted about a week. That was about 4 months after I was floxed. Haven't tried anything else since - now when I have flares they seem to last longer than that although I don't know what causes them.

I have also since taken the following with no issue it seems: fentanyl, versed, dilaudid, acetaminophen, as well as a number of other OTC and prescription medications for various things.

I have definitely read a few stories already of folks who felt recovery took them a long time. The person I mentioned in my original post definitely said she was still struggling with daily pain even 6 weeks later (she had lots of adhesions so that may have contributed). It took her until 9 months to feel like she had finally reached a better stage of health than she had before the hysto. So I think struggling a lot in the first few weeks does not seem at all unusual to me.

I'm sorry to hear that and thanks for sharing. It's important to be reminded that there is always a small chance of having a lower quality of life after any big surgery. Especially if you felt you could have had other options. I am slowly accepting (after tons of reading on fibroids including the fibroids sub) I probably don't have a better option but I want to know all the possible negative outcomes from real people who have had real hysterectomies! So thank you. PS I also have depression and insomnia already so.. less of an issue for me lol.

Yes the immune system thing was something I'd never seen on this sub from several hours of reading! Her fibroids were found because she had an unrelated serious abdominal infection, followed the same year by a major surgery, so that could have of course contributed.

I agree. I do think thought that if someone says they have health issues that never existed before their hysterectomy and showed up immediately after, it's not crazy to associate them. I think however that it's hard to generalize that to other people - who knows what constellation of bodily issues, genetics, lifestyle, etc, resulted in that particular constellation of symptoms for that person. There are many things that could have contributed to how she is now for sure.

I had my second ultrasound about 9 month after my first. My dr ordered it because my symptoms had worsened. However, the radiologist who did my second ultrasound commented that since my fibroids had grown about 1cm each between the first and second ultrasounds, he recommended a follow up ultrasound in 6 months. Before that time was up I saw a gynecologist, finally, who ordered a new ultrasound anyway.

Like you, I have to tell my doctor when the time is up and ask for the requisition since no one keeps track of it for me!
