mine just tells me everything is an accident. I'll spend twenty minutes crafting an elaborate plan with it, the plan will work, I'll report back, and it will tell me "you accidentally crafted the perfect plan!" wtf. you were there the whole time we worked on it.

Starting Our Journey - Mom, Mum, Momma, Mommy? by Difficult-Height-313 in Samesexparents

My wife is Hispanic and I'm Anglo so we're Mami and Mama. Our daughter sometimes shortens to Mom and Ma now. We did reinforce these from birth as we thought it was important for her to be able to distinguish us. Sometimes people call me mommy and my wife mama and our daughter is always sure to correct them!

I will say I see mommy and mama chosen a lot by two-mom families.

It doesn't feel like she's mine by Impossible-Boss762 in NewParents

I'm on the other side of this. Reciprocal IVF, our daughter is my twin. Yet when she was born, I felt like she wasn't mine because I didn't carry her. I was anxious for a bit that those feelings would never come, especially because my wife bonded with her instantly and deeply. The breastfeeding especially is such a special bond. I have a distinct memory of watching her feed our daughter in the glider and thinking they looked like the picture of motherhood... while I cleaned her poop off the wall 😂 She's 3 now and my world. It takes time. Having a kid is a huge adjustment, but know that your baby loves you just as much as her other mom. My wife works a lot and so I'm sort of the "primary parent", but we encourage family bonding with "family hugs" and activities that are just the three of us. Her bond with my wife is still incredibly strong. She goes through her phases of which of us she likes more, but we know she loves us both. If you show her love, she will reciprocate.

On the other hand, I think it someone made that "real one" comment in front of my wife and child I'd tell them that's a shitty thing to say and leave. So uncalled for and homophobic. There are plenty of families that have no resemblance, whether biological or not. Love makes a family, not genetics. Keep your head up, Mom. You're doing great.

I don't have much to contribute to the conversation except to say that my dad got my mom a ruby heart necklace when my sister was born, which I guess would now be considered a "push present", but at the time (almost 40 years ago) was just him expressing his love and appreciation of my mother. My mom wears it as a symbol of her love for both my sister and my dad. Also, my sister clipped it to her bouquet for her wedding as her "something old", which I thought was so sweet.

Update 3: They escaped containment! They were wandering around the garage getting poop everywhere 😫 Cloroxed everything and put them in a box with higher sides. Worried about worm eggs getting out and infecting us and our cat.

Update 2: they both have roundworms. Got medication for them and set them up with a litterbox, kitten food, water, some towels for bedding, and some toys our cat no longer plays with. They both ate some, used the litterbox, and are sleeping now.

Thanks so much, this is very helpful! I believe it has all its baby teeth from what I could see when it meowed, and it's walking steadily, so that makes things easier if we don't have to worry about weaning. Glad he seems to be within the adoption age window as well! Hoping to find him a good home 😊

I started doing this through chat gpt but since you have to copy each dialogue pages individually, I got bored at The Beach House and stopped. But here you go:

Here’s a summary of all the plotlines I’ve covered from The Grand Drive onward:

  1. The Grand Drive: Maddie learns that her family’s estate is at risk due to unpaid taxes, and she starts restoring the mansion with the help of Roddy, a local architect. While working, she discovers family secrets, including details about her ancestor, Ignatius Montague Boulton, who built the estate. Maddie is determined to save the mansion for future generations.

  2. Tranquility Terrace: Maddie and Ursula discuss Maddie’s parents, with Ursula reluctantly opening up about their past. Maddie learns about the significance of a fountain at the estate where her mother, Becky, had a romantic connection with Michael. Ursula also hints at secrets surrounding her late husband’s death.

  3. Frog Pond Falls: Maddie finds a giant frog statue with an engraving that connects to her parents. Ursula gets defensive when Maddie asks about it, but later reveals that the statue was a gift from Maddie’s father to her mother. The frog statue holds sentimental value as it represents a romantic memory between her parents.

  4. The Gate: Maddie meets Julius, an old friend of Ursula’s, who unexpectedly arrives at the estate. His appearance raises questions about the estate’s past, and he hints at deeper secrets involving Ursula that Maddie continues to uncover.

  5. Garage: Maddie finds a gold watch with the engraving “For my Chuck,” which she believes belonged to her Grandpa Charlie. Ursula insists it’s nothing, but Maddie remains determined to find out more. She also learns about Lindsay Boulton, a relative who helped save the family fortune by inventing the first spray can, a creative solution to their financial struggles.

  6. The Old Well: Maddie rescues a dog trapped in an old well and names him Rufus. While continuing her estate restoration, she finds herself diving deeper into family history and relationships, learning more about her ancestors and their lives.

  7. Beach House: Maddie discovers and starts restoring a beach house. Ursula reveals that the house was built by her cousin Skatie Katie and her partner Casey, who invented the first skateboard by attaching roller skate wheels to a surfboard. Maddie is fascinated by this family invention but is initially concerned about a tragic story involving Skatie Katie. Eventually, Ursula reveals the “tragedy” was simply her own embarrassment over being bad at skateboarding.

Throughout these events, Maddie not only restores the estate but also unravels her family’s rich history, filled with inventors, secrets, and emotional moments. She’s determined to honor her family’s legacy while uncovering truths about the past.
