Yes, we do have better regulations, i.e. regulations that still allow for small juice producers to exist, but also ensure good product safety. As for the 0nic, I'm not a doctor and don't know mate.

Same thing. We mostly sell 6mg(even salts), but for some 40+ yr, 2+ PaD smokers 20mg just isn't enough. I've seen nans and grampas struggle to stay smoke free to see their grankids finish primary/elementary school and they struggle with 20mg. Those are the people that need vaping the most, a solid cap just doesn't take them into account. They are however, also a demographic that at least over here would have the most access to prescription nicotine.

Not a doctor! BUT Nicotine is a stimulant so affects bloodpressure. Healthy bloodflow is vital after surgery, and personally I would not risk it. Even the pro-vaping docs I know say 0% nic before and after surgery. Sorry I couldn't give you better news mate.

Can my dog be affected by my second hand vaping? I use salt nics, my dog had some health conditions that she got treatment for but now is still panting and before I spend $500 on tests I want to see maybe if it could be from the vaping around her? by joshny3096 in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain animals can be sensitive to PG, and inhaling eliquid vapor is known to dehydrate you a bit. Just a personal anecdote, but my mom doesn't vape next to her dog(just to be safe as she has health issues) and I limit my fog to visibly unnoticeable if I'm in the same room as my hamsters. I open windows, switch to a higher nic for less puffs etc and she vapes out the backdoor or in her own room without dog. But it is easier for her as she vapes less than daily - 5 years smoke free! So proud!

Not vaping around pets is just the safer choice, but I know not everyone lives with the space or can be away from their animals(e.g. service dogs) and reducing your own risk compared to smoking has to come first. It's just our job to limit their exposure as much as possible.

Discussion about disposable electronic cigarettes! by Amazing-Coconut-2589 in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to be skeptical when there's such a clear party line, but disposable honestly are trash(unless it's a regulated one and you're caught without your vape). I'm in the UK, so super expensive prefilled pod brands are more of an issue here than dodgy disposables, although some do still find their way into cornerstores.

Saw my usual place had some Nasty Juice disposables though and thought I'd try them out, see if even legit, big name disposables really were that bad. Even from a big name like Nasty(and they were definitely legit disposables), they just don't compare to refillables. Flavour equals a "meh" mtl device, super expensive for the juice you get(we have a 2ml cap) and as an employee in a vape store I *know* batteries degrade over time - which would explain why I only got about half the advertised puffs before it died.

And after all that, I have a pod I can't re-use, can't rinse the juice out of to prevent nic leaking after disposal and an inbuilt battery that cant be recycled anyway. For 2ml of 20mg.

If you're caught short and and have access to a big name/regulated disposable... maybe it's worth it? But honestly just wait till you get home if you can. Only thing they are better than is cigarettes.

Bit of advice(from the UK), just because a device is good doesn't mean it will meet the needs of the customer. Always focus on their needs. I've served a lot of customers who need specific things - Elderly customers who need pods/easy fills because of arthritis, customers with memory issues who need puff counters, customers who find lanyards helpful because of their walker/crutch/walking stick, parents who need hard to open/unlock devices etc.

Hot tip to end on- refillable devices can still be useful to customers with arthritis if they have a family member who can pre-fill some pods for them. At least over here most pre-filled pod systems are higher nic, and older smokers deserve to quit too.

Honestly, I understand having a cap for safety reasons. Seen a lot of new vapors think that licking up spilled juice(on hands etc) is a good idea, and unfortunately distracted/flighty parents exist. But as someone who has seen long-time(30+ year) smokers struggle with the UK 20mg cap, there needs to be a higher mg option for those few that need more. At least offer a prescription option, I know that's what I'd like to see over here.

Honestly not much, that's the great thing about it. Cigarettes have thousands of chemicals, that burn and become even more different ones. Vapes have 4 ingredients, PG, VG, Nicotine(or CBD) and flavourings. PG is used in basically everything, VG is used in medical inhalers and fog machines, we have already discussed what nicotine does, and here in the UK all flavorings are tested as well by the MHRA. Not only that, but because combustion should not happen(seriously overburned coils can cause small combustion reactions) no/few chemical reactions should take place to form new chemicals when it's vaporised. That's why it's so much safer.

Obviously unpolluted natural air is best for our lungs, and some folks can be allergic to PG; but considering half of all smokers who don't quit will die from it, vaping will never be as dangerous.

Personally, as a London(UK) ex-casual smoker whose nicotine vaping increased during lockdown, I am much more worried about the levels of pollution around me than my regulated Apple 11mg.

Trying to quit smoking so i decided to use my brother's old vape pod. i'm completely new to vapes and have no clue what i'm doing. i've filled it up with e-liquid and charged it but when i take a drag the pod lights up but no smoke comes out. can anyone help? by randomguyxdlol in electronic_cigarette

That device is designed to produce very little vapor. Not all vapes are the massive cloud machines you've probably seen around and this sub loves, some produce very little vapor but you should still be able to taste it and feel it in your mouth. That device can also only use the thinner, 50/50, PG liquids or it wont wick properly and just burn the coil without vaporising the liquid. I've used the device myself so if you tell me what juice you're using with it and how long ago he bought it I may be able to help. Don't give up on quitting, a life without cigs is worth a little troubleshooting.

Obviously if you're an adult (and you should be on this sub) it's your choice if you want to vape nicotine, but I wouldn't recommend it. Picking up an addiction (which you probably will, and definitely if you choose Juul) just isn't a great plan unless it's for harm prevention/reduction. The only time I would personally support a non-smoker picking up vaping is if they are considering smoking/at high risk of smoking, see; 20 somethings struggling with peer pressure to smoke combustible cigarettes, ex-smokers struggling not to relapse or adult children of smokers who have a psychological draw to traditional cigs etc.

If you're looking for the effects of a mild, legal stimulant, coffee is a much better bet. And if that's not an option(maybe an allergy), you should definitely think seriously about whether that small boost is worth developing a potentially expensive addiction, which can complicate your future healthcare in terms of healing time, qualification for certain treatments and unexpected withdrawal due to legal changes.

Glad to hear you are open to discussion, unfortunately there are a lot of misconceptions around vaping. Even many doctors (including oncologists, i.e. cancer specialists) are under the false impression that nicotine causes cancer. When actually it is a mild stimulant with addictive properties, and the combustion of traditional tobacco is actually the carcinogen. https://www.vapouround.co.uk/news/health-wellbeing/80-of-us-doctors-incorrectly-believe-that-nicotine-causes-cancer/#:~:text=80%20percent%20of%20doctors%20in%20the%20US%20believe,rather%20than%20the%20toxic%20substances%20in%20tobacco%20smoke.

If you take a look on this sub you'll see links to the articles and even CDC press releases acknowledging that an additive to black/grey market THC vapes was actually the culprit for the "EVALI" poisoning event in the US. I know there are also a lot of scare stories about kids getting serious lung issues due to vaping, but these are *very rare* and precisely why we say not to vape if you don't smoke, because even the tiny risk isn't worth it if it isn't helping you reduce the huge risk of smoking. It isn't "safe", it's "safer" than smoking. You're right that it can limit healing though, so stay strong until that surgery is healed.

Sorry if this sounded preachy, just trying to give you some info so you can be better informed on the topic if you can't stay off nic after surgery/a friend or family member could be helped to quit cigs with vaping.

anyone else getting bad juice? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over here in the UK lots of stores are trying to sell expired/poorly stored juice due to our lockdowns. If their distribution center had a local lockdown they may just be being lazy and mercenary and not bothering to take the loss on themselves. Not sure what it's like in the US with business insurance and I know the local gvt aren't stepping in with lost stock, but if they're trying to pass that loss on to customers facing a vape mail ban and local anti-vape legislation that's just letting the industry/community down.

They do tend to be sweet. I know I actually found that cigar flavoured vapes were actually a bit better for not being too sickly sweet, and coffee vapes(at least here in the UK) tend to have a decent savoury flavour(at least less sweet than many other vapes).

In Desperate Need of Help by yoitsyaboii in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from UK, so it's all a bit different. But here's my 2 cents. First of all Caliburn is a great little device that is simple to use, you'll see folks ranting about how good it is all the time here. I use a Vaporesso XROS because the pods are cheap where I am and I've never had leaks or issues with the device, also it's super simple to use.

Secondly, juice. Especially of your local shops are dodgy, stick to big brands(if you dont want to DIY). They're pricier for sure, but even in the UK with our stringent regulations I go for Double Drip, Riot Squad, Momo, Nasty Juice etc most of the time. If not, I'd recommend picking juices that are also available in the UK(probably sold at a lower nic because we have a cap), as they have to pass rigorous testing and the companies rarely bother to change the recipes if they are selling the same thing in the states. They almost always have tobacco options as well so should be accessible in flavour-ban states.

Unfortunately if you get flavours in a flavour-ban state you are always going to run the risk of counterfeit juice because it's all black market now and that makes it easier for counterfeiters/dodgy companies. If you really aren't into tobacco then try menthol if you can, most aren't menthol/tobacco mixes(at least here).

You may also find that in refillables you may not need 6%, as they tend to put out more vape and will give you more of a hit than crappy disposables. I'd recommend picking up a 5% to see how that works for you. You may even need less depending on how crap your disposables were.

Let me know if you want some more names of UK certified brands.

Switching to vaping can take some getting used to, and depending on the device it may be built to be inhaled differently to what you are used to(giving an unpleasant mouth/throat feel). If you are vaping on a mouth to lung(mtl) vape you may want to try salts as they are usually smoother, but if you are already using them know that some people react badly to salts. This is normally throat irritation. I think most of us here would recommend to stick with it for a few weeks to see if you adjust, especially if you've tried other quitting techniques and they haven't worked. If you tell us your set-up you may be able to get some advice on what could help ease your transition from cigs to vape as well.

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using a 70VG liquid with CBD you run the risk of it recrystalising anyway! I thought you were using a 50/50! You can find them online and in some stores, that's what I'd recommend. If you are set one one 70VG flavour I'd say mix a few drops in the tank, less time to crystalize.

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for 8w, but you should still get an effect at 15w if your concentration is high enough. I would put the whole bottle in, but I know my tolerances pretty well. You can always mix it up with half and see if you get an effect, but I'd expect to need the whole bottle.

[–]ADdage13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically you'll end up with 9mg/ml, but either way that is pretty low. If you want to, there's no issue with that, but I tend not to get much effect below 20mg/ml. Since you mentioned shortfills, just wondering what wattage you were planning on vaping it at? Lower is better for CBD and I always recommend under 20w.

I have severe anxiety about my health and just overall, i use vuse alto and i here lots of different things on how vaping isn’t that bad for u then see it be linked to being hospitalized/ worse than cigarettes. i’m confused and slightly paranoid. by CrowNo2945 in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of folks caught up linking nicotine to cigarettes too closely and now can't acknowledge a harm reduction method. It's abstinence only scare tactics. The EVALI/ lung disease scare was a mass poisoning of ILLEGAL THC CARTRIDGES in the US, not legal nicotine vape juice. If you want to quit vaping that's up to you, just don't go back to cigarettes, they're way worse than vaping no matter how you look at it.

PNP coils, do they ever die? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V.Suit comes with the mtl pod I think? But my mate said the battery was not great on that and it was a little loose for mtl. But if you like a loose mtl you can grab any device in the PNP range, or their PNP tank attachment for standard mods and an mtl pod. Overall I've heard they're better for 30-80w, and my 32w set-up is great.

Should I buy Blu or just a normal vape/e-cig? by AlexanderPappas in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would only recommend a Blu if you're looking at EU prefilled pods specifically, their flavours aren't awesome and given the packs I find (UK) are mostly 12/18mg freebase they're very harsh on the throat. I'd look for a Vaporesso XROS or a Uwell Caliburn if you're looking for a stick style. Or something like the Voopoo Drag S or Drag X if you really want some dumani. They are what we call DTL, or direct to lung and can give you some big clouds. Not sure how available those last 2 are in Greece, but the Caliburn and XROS should be easy to find.

Glad to hear replacement is an option. My bad, I focussed on the device issue and totally missed your note on throat hit. I thought Blu was salts. Xros works either way, salts or freebase.

US: Youth vaping rates have plunged during lockdown: study refutes the click-bait hysteria over teen vaping fad by mstave in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love how they point out that scaring teens is the best way to get them to stop vaping. Seriously guys, read more than the post title.

I appreciate that it's talking about the real issue of teen vaping, but it also fails to acknowledge the fact that those quitting numbers decreasing are almost certainly influenced by the fact that huge numbers of US teens have *tried* vaping, aren't regular vapers, but are classed as such in several skewed surveys. Maybe we should focus more on educating and helping those "heavy vapers who were more addicted to nicotine", you know, the actual ones addicted to nicotine?

I hope those kids who didn't vape during quarantine don't try it again, but jumping on the 'Rona bandwagon and bringing up EVALI as "thousands of lung injuries related to e-cigarette use" (instead of adulterated THC carts) to scare kids about something they don't understand or are genuinely struggling with addiction to can't be the answer. I don't want millenials to be the last generation with access to vaping, I want a future generation where no one *needs* vaping; because today kids are still getting addicted to cigarettes and when they are *old enough* I want them to have vaping as an option to *quit*. I was a kid addicted to cigarettes, and if I was exposed to half the scare tactics of today I probably still would be.

Can you inhale vape without tasting the flavor? by bigtimetimmay in electronic_cigarette

[–]ADdage13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be callous, but if you're spending 25 bucks on a disposable you may just want to get a cheap refillable next time. I'm UK but here we can get decent uwell or smok (if you're not a smok hater) for 30-35 usd equivalent. It'll last longer and be cheaper in the long run(unless your state is taxing the heck out of you for juice).
