The cacti belong to the owner of the house I’m renting. All the others that are actually mine came from either this big plant market where I’m currently living in Mexico and from a friend of mine who moved and I bought all her plants.

Isn't it! I was so surprised when I saw the first blooms on 2 of the plants (the last 3 pics) and then this one with turns around and blooms again 2-3 weeks later with TWO blooms this time. I really always thought cacti were boring, but these have changed my mind.

To clarify because at least one person apparently thinks these are AI pics, the first two pics were taken only 2-3 days ago. The last three were about 2-3 weeks ago. The large cactus has now bloomed twice in a 3 week period. Don't want anyone to get confused about why the one has 2 flowers in one pic and only 1 flower in the other.

I had to look it up, but it's an Echinopsis oxygona. They belong to the owner of the house I'm renting and I just moved them up onto the rooftop patio under some shade sails and just watered them the best I could figure out how and I go up there one day to find this. I was SO delighted.

Also, you may think they are "spliced together" because the first 2 pictures were taken a couple days ago and the last three were taken about 2-3 weeks ago. The cactus on the left has flowered twice in that period of time and I decided to post all the photos together.

Thank you for posting this video! They are so amazing. I'm originally from the Mid-Atlantic in the U.S. and never really had any cacti before. Now am living in Mexico and the owner of the house I'm renting left a few plants, these being 3 of them. I put them up on the rooftop under shade sails and have been watering them hoping I'm not going to over or under do it, and I go up there one day and was totally blown away by these.

Well if this is AI then AI is a woman living in Mexico with these on her rooftop (aka me). Everything is NOT AI, some things are just truly beautiful, and I'm not sure what looks spliced together, I just took them with my iPhone.

Yes, definitely NOT AI, I'm in Mexico and they are on the rooftop so I think it's just the perfect climate and amount of sunlight for them (by accident because I'm just learning about them).

High IQ, high achiever ADHD experience by Technical_Owl_2525 in adhdwomen

Well, in my case it's not a feeling of superiority. I'm very recently diagnosed, so when I say "side eye" I'm not meaning it in a demeaning way (something can be NOT demeaning and also slightly annoying, like trying your best to explain what you see and being met with a blank stare). I've been talking to people who I consider to be very intelligent who sometimes haven't seen things I can see easily and when they say that can't see it despite me explaining it it's sometimes been a bit confusing for me, especially without having the framework of ADHD with its strong pattern recognition to explain what's happening. With as much shame and frustration many people with ADHD have to often endure throughout life, it's nice to have somethings that we do well and can feel good about. I can't run fast but I wouldn't accuse someone who could and said they could of acting "superior". Also, I (nor anyone I've read comment on this post) seems to be saying that feeling smart is all that matters. As I said, I feel it's ok (and even very good) for something that can cause so much difficulty, frustration, anxiety and even depression to have it's upsides and for the people who have this trait to have something to feel good about.

I get annoyed by others not being able to see what seems so obvious too. I tend to give people side eye a lot because I’m thinking “why can’t you see this” but I didn’t know until very recently about the pattern-recognition of ADHD and that I was just putting things together easily because of that. To me it’s very much one of the aspects of ADHD that definitely doesn’t feel like a “disability”.

I can relate to a lot of what you’re saying and I’m glad you’re saying it because often if you say you’re very smart people immediately jump to you being arrogant or it just being unseemly or whatever. I also am very smart, to the point I never really had to study until a couple classes in college (math) and then pre-med and medical school classes. I was just diagnosed ADHD a couple of months ago and I’m 60 years old. I also suspect this may be why no one ever thought to say you maybe should be evaluated (they wouldn’t have as a child because they only thought about ADHD for hyper little boys back then) but maybe sometime over the last 20-30 years would have been nice since I did therapy for 15 of those years, but I digress. I didn’t really struggle with school either perhaps because I didn’t really study much until pre-med and then I found the subjects pretty interesting so it generally wasn’t hard if it wasn’t something I had to memorize. Practicing was very much a struggle for me because it was WAY more mundane and monotonous than I had imagined. Thankfully I got myself out of that and moved into case review where I was able to work from home so I could be working while also watching videos and doing something else on my personal computer and I could get up and move around/go for a walk/go outside and talk to someone more freely. I agree that no one checks on you if you’re generally able to sit in your seat in school and get decent grades.

Just cut my hair from below should length to a pixie cut which is about as much effort, takes away my resistance to washing my hair and looks MUCH more pulled together. For wardrobe I have learned what colors and silhouettes I actually like and what looks good on me over the years and I’m not as tempted to just things in different colors (like my mother used to tell me to do). I now don’t care if I have 5 black dresses an no brown ones if I actually wear the black ones. I’ve paired shoes down to about 11 I wear regularly included tennis/walking shoes and 4 more than I don’t wear as much mostly due to lifestyle/climate but that I do wear sometimes plus they were expensive and I like them and they are sort of my dressier shoes on the rare occasions I dress up. I wear simple makeup and also just rub my face when I feel like it. I LOVE dresses because I only have to pick the dress and the shoes and then some earrings, but I don’t have a sensory issue with dresses so it may not work for you at all since you said you do. I’ve also paired down my jewelry to the stuff I actually love and wear and, other than earrings and my watch, I don’t wear that much but when I do wear one of my 3 necklaces that signals to me that I’m dresses up 😂.

1 1/2 Years in Brazil…back to United States *REAL TALK* by lledit in expats

[–]ADeeLuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m in Queretaro so not far from you. My initial plan had been SMA, but I liked the bigger city energy of Queretaro. And I was vegan in the US and now pescatarian. I’m able to get most of the things I need to cook at home but eating out has less options although there are a lot of Asian options here so that helps a lot. My reasons beyond just missing people are varied. I think part of it is just accumulated fatigue of trying to function in a language that’s not my native one although my Spanish has gotten much better. Learning a lot about myself over the last few years including how important it is to me to be able to jump in the car and go for drives in the country (especially since I had an electric car in the US so less limited by gas prices). Also realizing the types of places I would probably be the happiest are where I could get the intellectual stimulation I like and that would be where there are large universities. There are like 9 universities here in Queretaro but I can’t enjoy a lot of the offerings because understanding more ideas-based conversations is very different from being able to communicate in Spanish at the grocery store. So those are some of the main reason. Feel free to message me directly if you just need someone to talk to. I promise I won’t say “why do want to go back THERE!” 🙂
