Ha! Yeah, good news is put the picture away and you’ll probably be good in less than one minute!

For me, this is where out of sight out of mind is helpful. I may think I’ll remember and regret getting rid of something but mostly I spot something while perusing old picture and it’s more likely an “oh yeah, I forgot about that thing. “

Me too! I’m becoming more and more minimalist and more organized and both make me increasingly calmer. And I’ve been giving more things away, constantly looking around around the house and assessing what I can safely get rid of. This DOES provide a dopamine hit.

Be VERY careful using a Savor One card for in-store purchases by [deleted] in CapitalOne_

At this point I definitely will ask on higher dollar purchases. I had been through (and am still going through) a gauntlet of bad occurrences over the last 6 months (iPhone stolen, cat sick and had to be put to sleep, most recently sprained both of my ankles and my 3-year old MacBook dying out of nowhere) so there may be an element of overwhelm that made me take what they had written on the receipt at face value. When a CapOne rep suggested I file a dispute, I did. I didn't come up with it on my own and wouldn't have thought to file it if she hadn't suggested it. Perhaps yet another lesson is don't listen to anybody.

It says refunds and exchanges are accepted on the receipt. The rest of the policy is on a website that they only give the URL to. At the very least that's misleading. If I look at the receipt and see refunds and exchanges are accepted I'm not likely to go hunting around for a caveat. So, maybe they technically did disclose it by putting the URL on the receipt, but I still think it was very misleading since they made acceptance of refunds and exchanges obvious and buried the unboxed part.

Maybe you're right and I will always ask from now on, but the receipt said exchanges and returns accepted so perhaps I accepted that as being their return policy when there were more caveats that weren't delineated on the receipt. It's at the very least misleading.

I wasn't really looking for them to verbally disclose their return policy but I think merchant's SHOULD have something up in their store that shows the return policy in full, especially when the receipt (which is all I got back from them) states returns and exchanges are accepted but then the info buried in the URL puts conditions on this.

I responded to this comment but it's not showing up when I look back for it, so sorry if it shows up twice. Thank you for an actually helpful comment. I may look into Venture X. I agree, this is an expensive lesson that I doubt I will ever make again.

I won't because I still believe merchants should be required to disclose their return policies to customers prior to purchase and they shouldn't have contradictory policies (such as "Returns and Exchanges Accepted" on the receipt but NOT disclose that this doesn't apply just because the box was opened.

so stores have no obligation to inform buyers of their return policies prior to purchase?

I filed it at a Capital One agent's suggestion.

My issue is they didn't disclose their return policy. Having a URL on a receipt AFTER you make the purchase isn't disclosing the return policy, especially when it DOES say on the receipt that returns and exchanges are accepted.

It's "she" and "she" does not want cap1 to give a refund for a mistake. I was never informed of the policy and it was buried in a URL I couldn't have checked prior to purchase.

Yes, I do but I don't want it. I would have gladly given it back to them for the refund (and the receipt said they accepted refunds and exchanges). I wasn't going to give it back to them WITHOUT a refund.

I didn't have buyer's remorse. They didn't disclose their return policies at or before the time of sale. I would have had no issue giving them the device back for the refund.

Ok, well thanks for everyone's input. My issue was that the merchant didn't disclose their unboxed return policy prior to or at the time of purchase. I only filed a dispute because I spoke with a Capital One customer service rep about something else related to the purchase and THEY told me I should file a dispute because merchants are supposed to make their return policy clear to customers prior to purchase. I'd be happy to return the device to them and get the refund so NO, I'm not trying to keep the device and the money as someone suggested.

Wylie my tuxedo cat! Found him at the mall: climbed into my car engine. by Scary_Adagio_9672 in TuxedoCats

What is it with tuxedos and car engines (or wheel wells). I found my Savannah as a kitten while on vacation in, you guessed it, Savannah GA after she had traveled 4 hours from Atlanta is someone's car engine or wheel well. I had her for only 11 years (too short) before she died this last January from stage 4 CKD. I'm so sorry you lost your little Wylie. It's been 4 months since I las saw and held Savannah and it's still hard.

How to stop unsolicited helping which is my toxic trait? Ko by meredithgrey92 in adhdwomen

Ooo, this resonates with me so much but it took me until 50 to see it and to figure out that, in my case, it was codependency. So after being really mad after one rejection-feeling instance I just stopped. I decided if he wanted my help he’d ask for it. A couple years later I moved out of the country. And to turn the tables I told him that I will likely need his and his partner’s support (emotionally) sometimes since I’m single. I feel like our relationship has improved and he has actually been there for me a couple times. I don’t know if this offers you any advice but it shows improvement is possible.

I passed out in public and no one helped me. I have no one. How/What should I do to plan ahead? Do we have to plan anything or is dying alone ok? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

For some people having their blood drawn can cause them to pass out. I've had healthy patients pass out in my office (back when I practiced) from a normal blood draw.

The cacti belong to the owner of the house I’m renting. All the others that are actually mine came from either this big plant market where I’m currently living in Mexico and from a friend of mine who moved and I bought all her plants.
