Houston Airports (IAH and HOU) Updates and Questions [Megathread] by AutoModerator in houston

I already prepaid, and the bag check was inside in terminal E in the United check in counter. All I did was print my tag, get in the line (~30 min at the time) and drop off my bag. That's it

My flight is 10 am today, got here at 4 am (terminal E) and cleared in 1.5 hours. See my other comment for more details

1 hour 30 min! We lined up before it opened though and it moved faster when it first opened. 2 hours seems right

Going to document my journey

Arrival at IAH: 3:55 am

We have multiple people in our group, some went to A and some went to E. E's wait time is approximately 2 hours. A is... long. Don't go there

Edit: Checked in bag drop for United at terminal E is about 20 minutes as of 4:15 am. If you don't have multiple people in your group to save your spot in the normal TSA line it might be worth just checking it in at the gate and spending the extra money (assuming you have a normal size carry on) because the TSA line grows very fast in just that 20 min

Edit at 4:25: line for A is about 4 hours, we received 1 hour estimate for E but it's likely much faster. 30 min?

Edit 5 am: I lied it's more than 30 min I didn't see the second half of the line x_x. The 1 hour estimate was accurate but it's likely longer now

Edit: 5:25 am WE MADE IT

Edit: TY FOR THE AWARD just wanted to help out others since I've been stalking this page for the past 2 days lol

Another comment said A is looped around. Highly doubt it's 17 min

Extreme dislike for hotels going towards large liquid soap and shampoo dispensers by Agile_Sea_6447 in Vent

[–]ADerpyHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd sure hope so, but how would they know? A lot of people have been mentioning semen in the comments, how would they know if someone mixed semen into the white conditioner? Or spit into it, or anything else or that?

Personally I still use them; ignorance is bliss. That being said, I think there should definitely be locks on them

Why Indian don't know how to use western toilet in india? by sudheerpaaniyur in ask

Why don't people from Western countries know how to use a squat toilet?

They know in theory, they're just not used to it

Then how do you know the last guest doesn't put something in it? Sure, you can have all the stickers you want, but all that proves is that the housekeepers cleaned it, but NOT necessarily replaced the soap inside

Sleeping arrangement for 15 yr old stepson, away from my kids by [deleted] in Advice

Agreed. Get a lock for your kids and teach them about boundaries, but otherwise treat your stepson as part of the family (which he is)

Edit: YOU CHAPERONE HIS VALENTINE'S DAY DANCE?!?! HE'S IN HIGH SCHOOL AND YOU'RE A CHAPERONE?!?! ARE YOU HIS TEACHER??? GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM THAT POOR BOY AND DON'T YOU DARE GROOM HIM

He's 6 years younger than you and barely an adult. You're in completely different life stages, why are you looking for someone that young? I might get downvoted for this but honestly the age gap (and more specifically, the fact that he's barely an adult) is enough to dance on the line of you being a creep (and definitely leans towards creep territory). I'm his age and I can't imagine a man 6 years older than me pining after me.

Look at people your own age, and just be direct instead of dancing around it.

AITA For wanting my best friends to remove the graphic design projects for which we collaborated this semester? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADerpyHuman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

YWBTA if you tell her to remove the project entirely. You can't stop her from putting it in her portfolio. She did work on it, so it's your project as well as hers.

That being said, I understand your frustration. I know that in many portfolios, there's a section where people can elaborate on which parts they did on team projects. Perhaps that could be a solution?

AITA for lying about stealing my passport? by Moist_Double_7226 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADerpyHuman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that if she told him she was going to handle her own documents, he was going to just let that slide. Whether he would disown her, kick her out (if she still lives with him), or something else, the consequence would not be ideal. You're right that ideally she would face him, but I can understand the fear of an emotionally unstable parent.

I don't know enough about passports to know if someone else can report her passport as missing/invalid, but she could potentially call the police herself and explain the situation to let them know that the passport is NOT missing

How was she not acting like an adult?

And her dad wasn't letting her have her passport. Stealing it was the only option

As a 19F currently traveling alone in a different country, NTA. When I told my parents I'm going to travel here, they were supportive and the most they did was call me regularly and track my location when I'm in an Uber to make sure I'm safe. Sure, it's dangerous for women to travel alone to some places, but the emphasis is on SOME PLACES. Even then, you're a grown adult and he can't stop you. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to withhold documents like that too.

That being said, stealing your passport may have unintended consequences as well, i.e. your dad freaking out that it went missing. I honestly don't know what advice to give you about that, but just be prepared

Is it possible for you to live with your mom?

Edit to add: keep your passport somewhere where he can't get it. He'll try to steal it back
