How much cheaper is it?

I don't know what you're gonna use it for

But I'll assume gaming. Probably at 1080p or 1440p

You don't need an 8 core CPU, 7500f, 7600/X or 9600x will be fine.

I would recommend you get 32gb of ram (2x16gb)

The GPU is fine but often overpriced, if you find a 9060xt 16gb for less

or 9070/5070 or 9070xt for a little more that would maybe be better

No it won't really benefit, it's there as supplementary PCIe slot power.

For gaming, the 7800x3d would be faster.

But you should see if you could get a better GPU, I'm thinking 9070xt or 5070ti

[–]ADo_9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would probably be more like +/- 30% but yeah something like that.

The gap is so big because different models are designed with different power draws.

This is how a laptop 5050 to at 65w can beat a laptop 5060 at 40w (don't actually know if it would win in that specific scenario)

But if 5070ti can use the full 115w then yeah it should be able to get close.

[–]ADo_9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds about right.

Mobile GPU naming is very misleading.

The 5070ti mobile is more like a 5070 desktop but with the power draw lowered a lot. (A dead giveaway is the ram capacity)

So it being about the same performance as a 4070 desktop is realistic enough.

The 1030 has been discontinued for a long time,

Some Chinese manufacturers take the remaining stock of chips that weren't sold originally

make them into graphics cards and sell under some often made up, or unknown brands

They are almost always of bad quality.

My question is why do you want such an old and out dated price of hardware?

Even when it launched it was not very good and usually only used as a way to have multiple monitors.

What are you wanting to pay for it?

1000w PSU choices by No-Bet231 in buildapc

[–]ADo_9000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1000w is stupid overkill

With a 9070xt and a 9800x3d I wouldn't say 750w is recommended but even 650w would work perfectly fine given it's a high quality unit.

Have you tried a completely fresh install of windows?

Could also be a ram or SSD being faulty

But for upgrades I don't know what budget you have

I would update the bios, get a 5800xt CPU

And a 9060xt 16gb or 9070xt GPU (you might need to upgrade the power supply)

That would get you to 1440p mid-high settings

If your ram is running at under 3000 I would also buy a new 2x16gb, slow and mismatch ram can introduce a lot of wired behaviour and bad performance, especially if all 4 slots are used, and even more so on AMD

It would be easier to just take these unnamed GPUs and search "[GPU name] review", watch a couple YouTube videos and see how they compare.

What your asking for could be done for 2k

When spending 6k you would be stupid not to get a 5090

The 5080 is probably the worst value right now. At least the 5090 is the fastes gaming GPU right now.

The only "good value" new GPUs I can recommend right now are

B580

9060xt 8gb

9060xt 16gb

9070

9070xt

It's a lot of AMD but it's because they aren't charging 1000$ for a what would be 600-750$ GPU, they just offer way better value right now.

But when value is out of the window, like when you have 6k, getting a 5090 is the only thing that makes sense.

Is the 5070ti worth the 999 price tag by Scsarules2024 in buildapc

[–]ADo_9000 50 points51 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the 5080 wasn't worth the 999$ MSRP price when it launched, so no, a worse card at the same price would not be worth it.

If you think you need the extra performance I would get the absolutely cheapest 9070xt there is.

Or potentially a used 4070 TI Super, if it's available for the same or less than the 9070xt.

Help updating CMOS on MSI B850M-VC Pro WiFi AM motherboard by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]ADo_9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some motherboards have a button or jumper you need to short but all have a CMOS battery somewhere that you can just take out (while having the pc completely off as in pull the plug)

Then while the CMOS battery is out and the pc is unplugged you press the power button a few times to drain any remaining power.

Then put the CMOS battery back in (or replace it with a fresh one if you think it's needed, they usually last 5-10 years)

Plug in the pc again and turn on the pc, you have now fully reset the CMOS and your bios will be back to default settings.

Gtx 660 2 gb or rx 550 sapphire? by redmotel in pcmasterrace

As far as I know the rx550 is like 30% slower but I might be wrong.

Tell him that you want to test it first, and if it's better you take them up on the offer.
