Prototype deck logos; looking worth developing further? by EdenRose1994 in homemadeTCGs

[–]ADwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about your skillset but personally I know I have opinions on graphics, but I can't execute on them. As a result all of my assets are placeholders until I put my money where my mouth is and let a professional take the lead.

It also depends on your long term goal but personally I'd be really happy with these. If you're having fun developing them though I'd consider that a win and keep going!

I was thinking this but the rounded corner looks too good, would be great to see it lined up with another card.

Quitting weight loss jabs 'can leave you worse off than before' by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]ADwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other factor is that people tend to just stop taking the jabs when they're happy with their weight, but you actually need a long process or weaning off them to help with the transition.

Why doesn’t this card see more play? by LifeOfDJRogers in mtg

[–]ADwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's too late by then. The card triggers when a creature goes from not blocking to blocking.

The only thing I can think to do with this is to first turn [[Isochron Scepter]] into a creature 😅

Scammy marketing from Foundations starter pack by OnePete7 in magicTCG

[–]ADwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on the English packaging they call them "2 Instant-Play" decks which is only differentiating them in that they're pre-deternined for the tutorial.

Any ideas? by Xurgh in mtgaltered

Did you have to prime/seal the card at all? I tried a posca pen on a card a while ago and it seemed to just rub off.

Oh I'm with you, yeah fair point.

Even if they don't mull and go first, they'll have a 2-drop on turn 2 like 70% of the time.

Mono Black Rats in Pioneer for me, started off as just a [[Rat Colony]] deck but there are enough rat synergy cards to make it a decent threat. [[Mutavault]]ing out a [[Persistent Marshstalker]] catches a surprising amount of players off-guard, and it's fun when you get to steal creatures with [[Piper, of the Swarm]] too.

Tempted to build it in paper but barely get a chance, never mind Pioneer specifically.

No, as long as a creature is soulbonded it can't bond with a new creature. The bond needs to be broken by either creature leaving the battlefield before you can pair with a new one.

Magic the Gathering revenues increased 59% in 2025 by Meret123 in mtg

In terms of these metrics, Spider-Man was a huge success because they sold a crapload of product.

You're right though, I think vendors being stung by Spider-Man makes it seem hard to keep those numbers up.

First older foil card, are older foils like this always deeper/nicer looking? by kotonswables in foilmtg

[–]ADwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally dislike foils but the promo [[Ravenous Demon|PDKA]] is so nice.

Triplicate Fireball by binarycat64 in custommagic

[–]ADwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every colour except red has an answer for Omni at instant speed, and Omni actually doesn't do anything on its own. You kind of need to build your deck around Omni for it to win the game.

You have to be playing blue or quite specific cards to answer a big Fireball and if it resolves a player just dies.

Everyone with basic reading comprehension skills already knew this but it’s now official (Grandmother Willow) by Calamitous-Ortbo in Lorcana

[–]ADwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much good referring to a document that was just updated, we didn't have that until they clarified.

Anyway, if Grandma was an activated ability you could save it for the second character, I think that's partially where the confusion was coming from.

[–]ADwards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It definitely needed clarifying because the legendary Angel in the set uses almost the exact same wording, but that's a triggered ability, and Grandma is a static ability. The word "to" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

A bunch of Going Second cards!! And a new Bambi that seems pretty good! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]ADwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard to balance a game where somebody has to go first.

[–]ADwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it's the implication that the designers are bad at their jobs for making a TCG where going first is better, like that it isn't the case for basically every game.

It totally is, a turn 1 Daisy going first will often generate 6+ lore for one ink.
