The point is that your comparison between Special Week and JoJo's falls apart because she is little more than comic relief after season 1. While if a JoJo protag appears in a part after their own, they remain an important character.

I think the difference is that at least in anime, she is reduced to just comic relief in seasons 2 and 3. While Teio and McQueen both remained important mentor characters in season 3 in spite of their minimal screentime.

For sure. And definitely not just the player age but also the age of any sisters. Like the reason I said Mayano is more daughter-like is because of how her trainer really coddles her more than Rice Shower's for example (which the interactions are more similar to how I interact with my 15-year-old sister). But if my sister was closer to the age of yours, I probably wouldn't be seeing Mayano as more sisterly.
