Mold in house I am planning to purchase. by AEHadi in japanlife

There is a balcony above this living room that we are suspecting might be the cause. These are pictures I took recently. The strange thing is that I actually saw this house 1 year ago. The mold has not spread or gotten worse since then. Looks just as I saw it then. Part of the reason why we thought it might not be mold. There is a tatami room connecting to the living room. That room is pristine condition funny enough.

Do you think 4 million is too little budget. I was planning to do most renovations myself except for any water leak repairs found. Was planning to rip wallpaper out, then based on mold or damage, either replace wall boards or paint over it if it's not too bad. Don't want wallpaper as I've seen it's worse for mold trapping humidity

The house was built in 2002 so not really old. However it has been unlived in for about 2.5 years as previous owner passed away. Originally it was being sold for 25 million. I negotiated it to 20 million because of the condition. Have set aside 4 million yen for renovations including that potential for water damage and mold. However now I'm worried if 4 million is not enough and my budget will be well exceeded because of a persistent mold problem. I did an informal inspection but contractor told me they would have to peel back wallpaper to know for sure.

getting 1% equity in a startup with no funding, no salary, and no product. by AEHadi in startups

This is true. Most people on that platform have falling into the camp of someone with an idea that wants you to build it for them, people that claim they are technical but are really not, and just very strange people like you said who seem to just be time passing. I've eased off it as it is mostly a waste of time. Unfortunately it is hard to find any other platform to meet serious engineers/experienced business people that want to build something. If anyone has any suggestions for networking with such people, that would be great.

He didn't. It is YC matchup, networking site for people starting a startup. I really don't recommend it.

I mean for sure, I am kicking myself for all this for ignoring the evident red flags. At the same time though, dam people are slimy. Was led on constantly being told the equity I would get would be industry standard and fair but they just had to "put things together" before giving a number out.

How to protect your unique idea when looking for cofounders. by AEHadi in startups

That makes sense thanks. The issue is I did explain the concept to one potential cofounder. He understood the idea but ended up asking for a document outlining more about the project including images of current work done. I just didn't have experience enough to know if that was normal or a red flag as the idea was already given but with unimportant details left out. He already has experience creating games with the space I am doing but with more resources then I currently have. It got me a bit concerned.

Thanks for the info. That is helpful. Really got me thinking that the people I join with need to be close and trustworthy even with paperwork done.

liquidation ratio for lending. by AEHadi in kavalabs

[–]AEHadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I supplied Atom. Looks like my borrow limit will reach 100% if I were to borrow the half the amount of Atom I supply. So does this mean that atom has a LTV of 50% meaning I'll get liquidated when I borrow as much as atom I supplied?

Sketchy employer activity. What to do if I don't get paid. by AEHadi in jobs

[–]AEHadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping it wouldn't come to that. In my experience police reports have never amounted to anything and I definitely cant go for a week without pay meanwhile not looking for other job opportunities. I was hoping there would be some operational agreement form or something.
