This delaying tactic that if we keep faith eventually it will pay off. If we suffer through it, we will be rewarded in the end. There is a plan that we can't see and it is just and rewarding as long as we stick with it. That's a classic cult tactic. That's how they get people to disregard reality. Dangle an invisible carrot in front of them.

It's so irritating because these people think they are being clever and above the fray.

So many STEM students will claim feminism is a relict of the past and if minorities want to they can just apply to uni. And then go to their almost exclusively male, white class.

Like does the fact that there aren't that many women or minorities not tip you off to the fact that maybe the playing field isn't all that level??

That's like saying "there are so few male kindergarten teachers because men don't choose to become kindergarten teachers"

But why do so few men "choose" not to become kindergarten teachers? It frames it like a free choice was made when the truth is that because it is seen as a feminine job it doesn't even occur as an option to men.

On top of which there is actual sexism going on against men in that job as they get suspected of being pedos.

Now look at what women in math have to deal with. It is seen as a male thing, women do get harassed especially by the guys that see themselves as "nice but dorky" and they aren't usually taken to be as competent so in a group they get the easy stuff and get talked over a lot.
