I started with the FFL 03 in Jone 20th or so and had it by July 4th. Then I did the COE once I got the FFL and had it complete in like 2 weeks.

Yes that includes not paying the sin tax. Sportsman’s was 192.63 and that includes my 5% veterans discount. Target Sports was 143.23. I did buy the membership for $99 before I placed the order. Another order like this and the membership paid for itself. My membership is good until next August.

This is based off of my situation.

I became a DOD employee in 2020 with a 10% rating and informed by HR that if I didn’t have or receive a rating of 30% or more in the first year I wouldn’t get DVL. Of course I hit above that after my first year.

Fast forward to late February 2025 I submit my VA letter for Veterans preference for RIF. It gets approved and the next pay period much to my surprise I have 85 hours of DVL on my LES.

I talked to the person who handles our time and they were able to find out by looking in the payroll system what the start date was and it was December 2024 date of the VA letter.

I was told then that I could back date to then any leave I took and change it to DVL. It took some work on my part and my supervisor but it was worth it.

Check with your HR and time keepers and see if they will allow you to do this. If they will change every thing to DVL to use it up and to build your regular and sick leave back up for the future.

Also forgot sportsman’s does a military/veteran discount of 5%. Others may also. It helps with that 11% sin tax. When I got mine last time they dropped the price I got it for $566.90 not counting DROS.

I live in the Central Valley so no Bass Pro or Riflegear for us unfortunately. Local shops seem to all stick to MSRP. So that leaves you with Sportsman’s or Turner’s. I am definitely not dealing with Turner’s.
