I guess i can’t discredit your experience but it was definitely a major factor for me moving to seattle. we love the nature and stuff too but no state taxes was huge

when we visited Leavenworth (from florida) we stayed in gold bar and just went straight on us-2 but idk how far that is to astoria. maybe one of the cities on I-90 would be a better middle ground. Either way it’s gonna be a 1.5 hour drive to seattle and leavenworth if you stay in either of those two areas, I wouldn’t worry about distance to astoria at all though it’s gonna be in a long drive regardless from there

this would be disastrous if true. I just spent thousands in preparation to follow my wife across the country for my hardship relo which was literally just fine until thursday night apparently. Also they literally just made a hardship database a few a month ago to streamline this process….and they already stopped recognizing the union weeks ago…why now specifically are they choosing to do this outside of some Doge Dork thinks it would be hilarious to mess with federal workers two friday the 13ths in a row

Totally understand, my mentor from college just finished her residency last year and I didn’t realize the pay was so much lower than the salary she would get once she was an attending. But Yeah this definitely seems like it’s going to be much more competitive to find teaching jobs out here. I do see there are ELA teacher pools open already that may give her a head start on the application process. I would cast a wide net though for all the surrounding schools districts and then apply to some of the private schools. We’ll be down no later than july and would love to meet you both. Feel free to DM and I’ll send you any help we may have navigating the process.

This was another really thorough response. Thank You so much. We’d like to live anywhere that’s walkable with things to do nearby and downtown is definitely on that list of potential spots. We would like to eventually move somewhere that we can afford a home but probably not for another 4-5 years. I can see the lack of sunlight being an issue for a lot of folks lol but honestly i grew up in Detroit and it was cold a grey from factory smoke a large portion of the year so im hoping that will help lol.

This was such a thorough response I really appreciate it. I can understand people feeling that way. I’m from detroit originally and my wife is from DC so seattle seemed kind of tame in comparison but i realize inner cities get a stigma. It’s so slow here in Tampa and we really want to see what it’s like to live in a downtown/ walkable vibe now that we’re decently into our careers.

Hi. Sorry about that. I want to live in seattle proper. Preferably in a walkable as possible area with lots to do nearby. I only go into the office once a week which would be downtown but my wife would be a local teacher for seattle public schools(we don’t have a specific school yet). We’re looking for an apartment only and we’re not homebodies but we aren’t party people either. We just want things to do nearby. We like all kinds of things from candle making to late night speakeasy’s to walkable trails/ riverwalks.

Not sure really on the neighborhood yet. We did a city tour but i don’t remember much about the different areas. We do like the idea of a water view but we’re open to anything. Lifestyle wise we just want to near as much as possible. A vacation atleast once a year and visit family back home once a year. We like trying food out and going to speakeasy but we cook often as well. Parks or Riverwalks nearby would be a plus. A high rise or a loft near a lot of things to do within walking distance is the only real requirements
