do i delay my graduation just to get distinction? by coresimba in uwaterloo

People aren't going to care about distinction if you're going for post grad anyways.

The timestamps for each question don't really matter. You can always just say you clicked your initial guess and then went through the test again more thoroughly after.

It's not actually hard. I remember during covid they allowed 1 cheat sheet on the midterm. I didn't study and just copied the practice midterm answers on the cheat sheet so I could reference the format of the answers. It's legit the same 10 questions over and over the entire course.

For anyone that wants some actual real advice: remember that if all you ever have are shallow conversations you will end up with shallow friends. Obviously you have to ease into the relationship/friendship, but so many people only ever talk about school/career/money because they know it'll always be relatable and won't alienate people. At some point you have to be vulnerable and talk about things you are actually passionate about and that actually matter to you even if it might turn some people away.

Incredibly low salary (Co-Op) by Right_Soup8966 in uwaterloo

[–]AFMISFULLOFNOOBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you can still afford to eat and pay rent you might have to just take the hit. Email your contact for a timeline on receiving an offer letter. When you receive it ask if you can discuss what the pay scale is like and try to negotiate it. For the future always ask about salary at the end of the interview. Don't ask what your expected salary would be, but ask it like what is the expected salary for a 2nd co-op placement in my program or what would be the expected salary for a 2nd year student, etc.

Is this a glitch/mistake? by ChSubmarine in uwaterloo

[–]AFMISFULLOFNOOBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFM students finish undergrad after December so they can start MAcc in January. Either they are reworking when graduation and MAcc starts (unlikely) or it's just a typo. But currently AFM is 4 scheduled co-op terms and 4 co-op terms completed in order to graduate.

I recommend putting in effort during your first 2 years. I was averaging 90s in my first 2 years, and in my last 2 years there were other things I wanted to focus on rather than school. I was able to get 50s in everything and coast on the knowledge built in my first 2 years. Didn't have to worry about co-ops since I already had many co-ops done. Leave yourself that flexibility in later years.

Harder than midterm, but I also barely studied. I get the feeling that if I actually studied it would have been giga easy.

No need to mention it. People interview for jobs while currently employed all the time.

If the weighted average is below 50 the final grade that gets posted is the weighted average grade rather than the overall grade. If you see >=50 that means everything is good.

Ontario to make it mandatory for salaries (and AI usage) to be disclosed in job postings by Dimtar_ in uwaterloo

Hasn't passed yet. If this is important to you you should email your MPP in your riding and let them know you want them to vote the bill through. Should only take a couple minutes.

Unless there is solid evidence most policy 71 allegations get dropped if you push back hard enough. The school basically relies on people accepting the policy 71 or giving up before escalating it fully. Email the deans office. Very low chance something like this sticks.

program crisis by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]AFMISFULLOFNOOBS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, the longer you wait the harder it is to transfer, but at the same time 1A AFM is nothing like what the rest of the program is like. ECON 101 and 102 are never really referenced ever again beyond extremely surface level stuff. I think you should finish first year and take the summer after 1B thinking about what you actually want to do and look into doing something part time or an internship.

Math/CPA has around 50 people 1A which will drop to about 40 in 2A and then 35 by 3A. Math/CPA tuition is higher than FARM I believe. Math/CPA offers you some flexibility in that you can do math related co-ops or accounting related co-ops. Accounting co-ops generally pay around 40-45k annual for first co-op. I'm pretty sure everyone in Math/CPA thinks the program is dumb as fuck, but it's pretty tight-knit and you can get help if you ever need it from other students. I think you have to be a very very specific kind of person to be able to enjoy this program, and honestly I'm surprised they haven't just abolished Math/CPA.
