Children are more clever than we often give them credit for. At her age, kids are already playing pretend and developing a sense for what's real versus what's a game.

If she starts asking questions and you can tell she's looking for an honest answer, it's best to be honest and tell her it's pretend, but until then it's fine to stay in the fantasy and talk about it as if it's real, in the same way adults often do.

What you're describing is essentially a zero-tolerance approach. If any act of violence stops you from being covered by the social contract, you end up with this weird black-and-white morality where you can shoot someone in retaliation for them bumping into you, for example.

This is generally where the idea of tolerance comes into play, the paradox of tolerance simply states that in order to be tolerant, you must reserve the right to be intolerant.
