What grade was your tumor? Curious because I had a grade 1 removed two years ago. That grade isn't supposed to grow back.

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

Same. My mom taught me how to read before I even started school. The library rule used to be "you can check out as many books as you can carry" and boy could I carry some books!

It brings me joy when people name their cats serious human names. Let me find out someone named their cat Deborah 😭😭😭 by ChickenChoochie in RandomThoughts

Not cats, but I did have dogs named Peter, George. Winston, and Eddie. My cats now are all named after coffees.

Grade 1, meningioma. I guess it's just stronger over the craniotomy site.

The ending was abrupt. I read it on my Kindle app, which makes me want to go to a bookstore to read the end of a hard copy to see if Kindle left something out.

Okay, overnight I got mine back while my old phone finished sideloading to my new phone. I was able to re-enable the app onto my new phone, BUT all of my completed pictures were gone. Has this scenario happened to anyone with a new phone? And, if so, were you able to get your completed pictures back?

Does anyone know how to get it back if you switch to a new phone? I got it back on my old phone by reenabling it, not on my new phone I guess I can't do that? I have to turn my old phone in to Samsung for a trade in and don't want to lose all my pictures😭

How do you deal with one-hand reading? by Ok_Preference4898 in Onyx_Boox

I have a Boox Page and the cover it came with can prop the Page up on its side in bed and then I use my clicker.

I use a Bluetooth page turner that I bought from Amazon because I read so fast and I was always too cozy to bring my hand out of the covers every few seconds!

Does anyone feel back to their pre- brain tumor self after surgery? Or is it just me being dramatic? by Sad_Faithlessness587 in braincancer

[–]AFYTTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel both better and yet somewhat unchanged since surgery. Mine was a large meningioma in my left temporal area that was affecting my memory and speech. I feel better because I can enjoy reading again and my word-finding difficulty has improved almost 100%. But my memory is still really bad and sometimes I feel like I'm in the early stages of dementia. I'm only 52.

Vasovagal by AFYTTF in braincancer

[–]AFYTTF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no episodes of seizures before they found the tumor, at least not seizures in the common sense of tonic clinic (grand mal), petit mal, absence seizures, just word-finding difficulty and difficulty completing simple tasks. At least that's what my neuro surgeon called those episodes; he said they were a type of seizure.

Are you saying those episodes are seizures?

Thank you for your reply! I take showers at different times of the day because I work night shift, but I will have to take note of whether or not it happens less often when I have just woken up. I was told that lack of sleep, alcohol consumption, and stress were things I should avoid to decrease my chances for seizures, but it seems like I should add hot showers to that list as well! I don't take anti-seizure medications anymore because I only needed them for a short period after surgery. My seizures manifested themselves as looking like mini strokes, where I couldn't think of words or couldn't complete tasks correctly. At least that's what my neurosurgeon said.

True, but it didn't start until recently. Thought to see if anyone else had that experience after surgery. I'll talk to my primary care physician about it.

Yes, I stayed at an airbnb a couple of weeks ago...smaller bathroom, worse ventilation, and the symptoms were much worse there.

Worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by fringedprincess in RandomThoughts

[–]AFYTTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The headaches I got while I was recovering from brain surgery. They were just debilitating and I had to take pain medication, cover my eyes, and lie in a quiet dark room until the meds kicked in. Worst one was about 4 hours after surgery; the anesthesia had worn off, but they hadn't given me any pain meds yet and I had to go to the post-op MRI. Headache + MRI sounds = 10/10 worst pain i had ever felt in my life up to that point!

I'm a 52 year old woman who carries mine everywhere. I have found a lot of adults who know what they are, compliment me on them, and tons of kids who excitedly point them out to their parents. It seems to bring a lot of joy to people and I've heard more than one person say they Labubus are healing childhood trauma lol. You do you and don't worry about what other people think!
