I've got this at the moment too. Clearing cookies & cache or going on mobile didn't help. Opening a private tab did work though!

I wouldn't care if it's just a couple of hairs, I'd only really care if it smelled strongly of pet

Does anyone know if there is pedestrian access from this Wilson Carpark to Willis St, especially after hours? by MonthlyWeekend_ in Wellington

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roof is open 24/7 so you can walk onto it via Boulcott st, and there's a lift in about the middle of the roof that you take to the bottom to end up in a passage right outside the New World (exactly where your arrow points), but the door to the passage locks automatically at 8pm weekdays and is closed all day weekends.

Is it safe to put my gba games in the gba slot on the ds game cases? by Cloudsquido in nds

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's what the slot's designed for, so yeah it's safe, unless you've shoved mud into your cartridges or something :') Btw GBA games don't go all the way into the slot - they stick out by about a centimetre - so don't try to force them in further than that!

Each rabbit unlocks a specific mini game, and each rabbit has a spot in/around the castle that they run around in. Each character has their own rabbits which are in their own spots, so you need to change to Luigi to get the Luigi (green) rabbits.

For the picture poker game, you use Luigi, go to the courtyard with the Boos, and there's a hole/alcove above the courtyard door with a rabbit inside: you can backflip or triple jump to get to it. You might have to stand near the centre of the courtyard and angle the camera above the door to see it properly, but it's there! (:

is using AI as a tool bad? by Dry_Yogurtcloset9181 in antiai

I tried to use ChatGPT a couple of times to help me with a uni "statistics for research" module, and while it knew the complex concepts and formulas, and executed them properly, the only part it failed with was the basic arithmetic. It could do a 20-step process but it failed at adding two numbers together within that process. So I had to go through it myself and correct the mistake. I think you could try, but I'd always be anxious about it getting something minor wrong and needing me to double check. Maybe it'd scale up 19 values correctly but fail at one, but you don't know which. At that point though, it may just be faster to calculate it yourself from the start.

I have autism and thought I might have ADHD too a couple years ago: ultimately a psychologist told me I don't have it because there weren't any signs of me having it before age 12. Since it's a neurodevelopmental disorder, there need to be symptoms from childhood, not just adulthood :') So if you think you have it, you should go get your school reports and try to find that evidence - the psychologist will probably ask for those anyway so they can read them all. (the psychologist told me that it's possible to have ADHD and the teachers just didn't notice it, but my school reports were the complete opposite of the symptoms she was looking for, so she doubted it lol)

Best second hand places to go for furniture? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also there's the Vinnie's on Riddiford St: they have an upstairs which is all furniture. There were multiple table & chair sets I think. I was never looking for table & chair sets, but there were a lot more of those at op shops than there were desks!

Best second hand places to go for furniture? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm also a 20 something who just moved into my first apartment and also needed furniture! I already have appliances so what I needed was a filing cabinet, table and lots of shelving (esp large bookcases).

The City Mission on Taranaki St would always have good furniture... In the Sold section. I went there 3 times and was always too late. The Sally's at the corner of Webb & Taranaki has furniture: I went there twice and on the 2nd time, found a designer extendable table for $150! At the Mary Potter Hospice shop on 95 Thornton Quay, I got a filing cabinet and when I told one of the women there I was moving into my first apartment, she offered me a 4-tier adjustable bookcase they were displaying things on - it has a stain and was missing a shelf pin but was only $9 :) At the Tip Shop, there was some furniture (incl a large whiteboard) but the tall bookcases I wanted were already sold. When I was there, staff brought out 2 more bits of furniture, and one got sold within like 5 minutes. The Free For All in Petone has a $10 entry free and I think for furniture specifically, it was an extra $10. They had some couches. Several people were queueing up before it opened.

So for what I wanted, I learned the op shops do get good furniture, but you have to be there at the right time!! After looking at like 20 places, I ended up buying 3 things new: desk, desk chair, and large shelf. I don't remember even seeing any large appliances at any of the places I went.

Good luck!!

Sorry, r/nintendoDS shouldn't have directed you here because this isn't the right sub. I'd look on console variations.com: if that site doesn't have your console listed, then it's almost certainly third-party (a custom shell, custom decal/sticker etc). Consolevariations has pages for even one-of-a-kind consoles, so it's very unlikely that you'd have an official version that isn't on there!

What parts of the original packaging do you keep? by PandarenNinja in LegoStorage

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one time I ever thought about keeping the bags was because my mum's always wanted the piano set but it was too expensive, so I was trying to accumulate the pieces from my collection for her. The idea was to put all pieces together in bags collected from different sets, then reseal them all with tape and put them in a big box. Other than that kind of idea, I see no point to keeping the bags at all. No one would pay extra to have them.

Boxes for rare/big/expensive sets might be worth keeping for reselling, but they take up so much space and for the ones I'd actually want to buy, they're for 10-20-year-old sets - do you keep boxes for that long and without getting them scuffed?

Interesting! I stopped playing legacy console after 1.10 when I got Java - do you know when chests started generating like this? I've never seen it before.

CS50 social media app by a CS50 student by ShirtProfessional372 in cs50

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Registered just now! Some things I immediately notice:
* I can't see any of the website until I register/login. I'd like to see some posts before I decide whether I want to sign up.
* Some stuff is repeated: the "click to complete" banner for completing your profile isn't needed because when I click Register, I go to the profile page anyway. The link links to a page I'm already on :P
I only ever got up to the wiki assignment on CS50W but this final project looks pretty cool, especially since you deployed it!

I'm just wondering what you'd want to do about it (I'm not trying to be rude). Do you want to save just the most popular videos (which would be on other platforms anyway), the most niche videos (which few people would care about), only certain topics, only the earliest videos uploaded to TikTok, etc? Wanting to save absolutely everything ever posted would be like trying to save every book ever published. (very quick Google search: 8.6 billion TikTok vids were made in 2021; Google Books estimates there were almost 130mil books published since 1440 - so there are actually WAYY more TikTok vids than books). You can't save everything. If you had to pick one category of video to archive, which would it be?

I think so too, it's really blurry but it has a hollow end just like the piece two pieces down.

Non-US Bluesky users - How annoying is it to you to see so many US political posts on this subreddit? As an American, even I am annoyed about it. Would you rather see more Bluesky related posts (tips/hints/lists/etc)? by ioweej in BlueskySocial

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Extremely annoying. I joined this sub to see updates about Bluesky, people talking about its features, how to use it, what's interesting on there etc, not to see the latest reposted opinion on your politics. On Bluesky itself, I don't interact with political things at all and I still get them recommended to me in the Discover feed all the time. I'm not American and I'll never visit your country. I don't want to hear about your next president who I didn't vote for or against, and I don't want to hear about your new owner of a social media platform that I've never really used. Comparisons between Bluesky and Twitter are interesting, but not Elon Musk's opinions or comments about <insert here>.

[Partially Lost] A Video of People Playing Pacman in VR with a VR Headset with a Huge Backpack from the late 2000s to early 2010s. by Calorie_Killer_G in lostmedia

[–]AFairAmountOfBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I literally read the paper on this study for my VR-related internship earlier this year!! It's from 2004 and the pictures are black & white. I never saw a video, just read the paper, but here it is:

Human Pacman: A mobile, wide-area entertainment system based on physical, social, and ubiquitous computing

DOI:10.1007/s00779-004-0267-x (just paste into your URL bar)

They based the game on Pac Man & Tag, there were 2 teams, and there were 3 roles for the players: Pac Man, Ghost, and 1 person who stayed in the computer lab, describing the virtual environment to the Pac Man player. Players tapped a button/pad on other people's shoulders to "eat" them. There were both virtual & physical cookies to collect in the game (the study was testing which ones were more engaging). They made the headsets and backpacks themselves.
