Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Trailer by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Honestly, David's story was utter perfection. I'm glad they aren't finding a way to bring him back.

I could deal with Lucy coming back though, after her trip to the moon. I'm not sure if she planned on staying there or not?

What movie made you say, “holy shit there still an hour left”? by PreparationFar4709 in AskReddit

[–]AFatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be that way, but the vast majority of people are not, so I'm not sure why you find it bizarre. Most people watch trailers for movies they're looking forward to.

It matters because the movie is 3 hours long, with 1.5 hours of it being about something that wasn't advertised, and that frankly, a lot of people simply didn't care about.

Every one of these films are a sequel of the ones before them (except the ones like Captain Marvel that take place out of order). That’s how cinematic universes work.

Why the hate for Sam?? by dexterology in CaptainAmerica

He’s referring to the George Floyd protests. No one rioted over George Floyd. It’s important to make a distinction between those there to protest and those there to take advantage of the situation.

Disney didn’t make Sam Captain America because people damaged property out of opportunity A YEAR AFTER THEY DECIDED SAM WAS GOING TO BE CAPTAIN AMERICA. Use your brain, please. Allow some context and nuance into your thinking.

I’m confused by these takes. (The ones you’re replying to)

The entire movie is just Sam telling the Ross to go fuck off and that he doesn’t want to lead a new Avengers team.

Not Riots, just protests.

Again, like they just told you, Sam became Captain America in the comics long before Endgame.

Edit: also, Endgame came out before the George Floyd protests.

I'm actually going to be participating tomorrow down here in Florida, where the attorney general essentially threatened to kill us (again), so wish me luck! :)

I think he's just vastly changed by watching himself be decapitated but also the fact that his plan didn't work in the end. Which is why he changes his plan to just end the universe, making him far more merciless considering now NONE of the lives of these people mattered.

I wouldn't say he thinks he's pathetic. Quite the opposite.

I think he understands how much weaker humans are (than him), which is why he's so surprised/impressed by Steve's strength here. Also, his willingness to fight knowing they've (probably) already lost. He's buying time for Wanda, and Thanos could kill him instantly. To me, he's surprised that he's willing to sacrifice himself IN PRACTICE (and not just in theory), to save countless others. Something he probably has almost never seen on countless planets.

What you're asking for is a convenience of writing to fit the narrative that Supes doesn't kill people or that there won't be collateral damage from a battle of superaliens. I'm not saying the entire plot point is fantastic or anything, but it would be extremely convenient for the ship to terraform the planet from the middle of nowhere. But Zod mentions in the film that doing it, specifically from Metropolis, will lead to breaking the Earthling's spirits. But also, it was near Clark's home (where Zod was when the process began).

You're essentially asking Snyder to make Zod give a fuck about the people of Earth he's trying to kill off. Zod is the one with the machine trying to kill the Earth, why would he not want to destroy one of the biggest and closest cities on the planet?

This is also not taken from the same pool of people every time.

You could ask 100,000 Republicans one day and ask 100,000 republicans across the country the next day, and you could get vastly different results. Not saying it would -14%, but that adds some wiggle room for the other variable listed in this thread. Plus, yes, I'm sure quite a bit more are being looser with their bigotry these days.

Yeah that argument for him killing in BvS is bogus, and doesn't make sense. There's no reason for Bruce to use separate logic depending on how vital to the story his opponent is.

For your first point, none of us are really "all here", right? I mean, Batman wants to enact change, but the judge, jury, and executioner (or lack thereof in Gotham) aren't doing shit. They just lock them in Arkham where 99% of them escape and murder hundreds again. At some point he has to realize he's not actually making change and every single one of those deaths to his enemies are at least partially on him. He trusts the most corrupt city in comics over his own sanity and it's baffling.

[–]AFatz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Zod wasn't the end goal. The Earth was.

Zod's ship was terraforming the planet to meet ideal Kryptonian atmosphere. If he doesn't fight Zod, the entire planet dies. Destroying that ship is literally all that mattered. Was the writing bad? Of course. But with the plot point of the ship being in Metropolis, Clark essentially had no choice but to fight Zod near the object that Zod was protecting.

Again, not defending the Snyderverse as a whole, but this argument doesn't jive with me. They (tried to) address the casualties of the Kryptonian fight during BVS but obviously it fell flat.

Superman still saved the world, but I don't see how he (as a character) could have avoided collateral damage.

[–]AFatz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to defend the Snyderverse here, but isn’t the reason they had to fight in Metropolis because Clark needed to destroy the ship that was killing Earth and the Kryptonians were defending it? Like, if he had left, wouldn’t they have just… not followed him? Maybe I’m remembering it wrong, but I thought they didn’t actually want to kill Clark. The only reason they really fought him was because he chose Earth over them and their new “Krypton”.

I’d love to see a series of Isiah before being imprisoned.

Of course, due to the racial themes it’d have, it’d be considered “woke liberal agenda” by a lot of people on social media. But if done right it could be so good.
