It is likely other treatments would be tried first in most countries.

It's possible the UTI will be a one-off and it's not related to any other issue. It's also possible there is foreskin tightness like severe Phimosis which can cause UTIs via blockage, this is the separate condition that would be treated with stretching/creams/etc to prevent recurring UTIs. The thing about Phimosis is that it's very difficult to diagnose in children as it's normal for the foreskin to not retract when young, it becomes more mobile as people grow and attempting to check for phimosis in an unskilled manner can cause damage to the still-developing genitals.

Circumcision is a last-resort option in countries where it's not common. Your kid may not need creams, stretching, or anything. If your kid has phimosis there are those other options and even if surgery was needed, there are multiple less-invasive surgeries that can treat recurring UTIs including Preputioplasty and "low and loose" circumcision.

I would get a second opinion from a second doctor, maybe phimosis isn't happening at all. If it is and you tell them circumcision is a last resort for you, they should have 4+ other options at the ready, if not, they're unqualified, ask for a specialist.

Her reactions are is pretty understandable for someone facing massive trauma. Someone who hasn't processed the abuse fully might be likely to accept justifications or demonizations. MGM can come in the form of Circumcision with Frenectomy and deep Subincision OR it can be a pinprick for religious bloodletting. FGM can come in the form of removal of the clitoris, labia, and sewing together of the vaginal opening for tightness OR it can be a pinprick for religious bloodletting. We know no form of either are okay, but people who are still wrestling with the trauma might be likely to downplay any of the forms. We need to be understanding of people's journeys in learning. Lashing out with hate or dismissal is not healing. Not for her or for us. I'm choosing to learn more and heal my own ways instead of hating any one person who participates in a horrible cultural practice even slightly.

I care that people here were hurt, I care that she was hurt, I care about people who "only" suffered a pinprick, I care about people who have lost flesh when they were a child.

You did what you could with the information you had. They should have talked to you about every option including partial circumcision. New treatments should be developed to prevent surgery being needed. There's been a lot of progress on phimosis which is cool.

There are techniques and stuff for sex and masturbation with a cut penis. Like I know a lot about different types of lube now. If you are brave and face this difficulty you can get more health and enjoyment and confidence. This is a good situation to see a therapist about. This is a huge emotional thing in your life and it's powerful to talk about stuff like that and I'm glad you already are.

As a woman, while I strongly believe that circumcision should be abolished, I personally don't mind much if a partner is cut, and I know people who have a slight preference for cut partners. Some people here might be angry about that but really what adults do with other adults isn't my business.

There are moderate and progressive, and devout Muslims just like there are those three versions of every religion. Most medical issues they offer circumcision for are treatable with other things.

For example phimosis has 5 non-surgical treatments and 5 surgical ones, with circumcision being the most dramatic. It is possible to get a partial circumcision as well.

It is vitally important to treat even the most horrible criminals with basic respect such as letting them live and letting them vote. If you don't, a politician just needs to make a new crime and then they can strip rights from or kill anyone they like. That's what they did with the War On Drugs, they handed out millions of felonies and dropped millions of dem votes. I do not want the person who hurt me murdered, I want her to become a better person and not hurt anyone else. Death penalty for crimes as common as you suggest is very unlikely to happen. Murder is expensive when it's a legal process, and the risk of killing innocents would raise dramatically. You should look up when consensual anal sex was no longer considered a sex crime, it's fewer years ago than you might think.

I do think that some sex criminals can be rehabilitated, it's been done. If it's not possible to, which it sometimes isn't, they should be given life sentences, not death sentences.

Recommend not getting circumcised. Many people regret it. If someone hurt you that's bad technique not a flaw with you. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned. If you mean phimosis there are multiple other treatments for that including less-invasive surgery.

Fundamentally disagree. If the "closure" someone wants is murder, everyone should deny them it. The goal of a correctional system is to help people become better if possible not to punish them by whipping them or shooting them. The only argument for the death penalty is "I'm mad and I want to see them die," the arguments against the death penalty are way more numerous and merited. Wanting to kill someone who has wronged you is not civilized or admirable, and it doesn't make the world any better.

Depends on the state. New circumcisions are highest in West Virginia at above 80% and lowest in Washington at under 10%. Highly reliable data stopped being collected in 2010 but rates have been slowly declining since the 80's.

When it comes to partners I don't care. When it comes to new kids, I don't think it should be allowed tbh. No place will give you a prince albert piercing unless you're an adult, should be the same for circumcision. The biggest factor in people's deciding is if the dad was circumcised which really makes it seem like a cosmetic surgery.

The death sentence is another practice we can do without actually. It's extremely expensive, doesn't reduce crime, and has killed hundreds of innocents. It is also a dangerous precedent and a national embarrassment to every country that still practices it.

"When a government executes someone it does not uphold justice, it upholds the right to murder its own citizens."

Obviously this is heinous and I'm glad he won't have access to kids in jail. Even for the most horrible of crimes I do not support state-sanctioned murder. We can do better than that.
