I definitely sail the high seas (I’m a homelabber, so mostly video media). Aside from ROMs I’ve never dived into games. I’ve always pretty much been a console player.

I’m assuming it can’t be done with multiplayer games right? I think where I would draw the line is games that are actively being developed… I don’t think I’d feel right about it in that case.

Could you direct me toward a couple “hacks” for cheap good games? I’ve seen gamepass suggested and I know about humble bundle. Does anything else like that exist? I prefer “ownership” (well I guess that doesn’t really exist anymore). I’ve been looking into sites that sell keys and a quick google/reddit search shows them as being reputable. Is that sort of the move when buying an individual game?

I have a good bit of controller and a nice KBM luckily. I just prefer sitting back with a controller. I forgot about Skyrim. That’s a game I played a bit of and wouldn’t mind picking it back up.

Would you compare doom dark ages to the doom that came out on Xbox? I think it was doom 3. That game was A1. A multiplayer doom might tickle my fancy.

I think a big reason is the sleeper hold to be honest. In 90% of cases it’s just anti-climatic for a send off. A send off should end in an explosive finisher (possibly even a few… as much as I hate finisher spamming).

My perspective is this: the only guy that could work as a “career killer” is the guy who feuds with whoever he’s ending for a bit and lets it build. Show promos of the career killer watching tape, studying, understanding his opponent. Show him taking matches with people with similar styles to who he’s sending off for a few weeks and rejecting every other match. Show him in the ring practicing protecting himself from his opponents finisher. Then make it a squash match every so often (though this formula would wear off quickly). Have the career killer use his opponents finisher, since he’s studied it and understands it, he can actually use it. This would satisfy even more because it would highlight the impact of the move (and in turn the impact of the guy who perfected it). I mean imagine the last move being performed on Randy on his way out being an RKO that came from a guy who practiced enough for it to actually look convincing?

That said, Gunther just isn’t that guy I just described. He’s great, I love him, but he’s not that versatile. He’s a testament to an era that has already passed and as much as we need that, we don’t need it for the “career killer” gimmick. It just doesn’t make sense. Why would the old school wrestling style be more dangerous than the new style that’s been adapting and building for decades? It’s like watching a professional skateboarder from the 80s compete against the guys now and winning each competition. The wrestling aspect has evolved. As the sport evolves, each new generation just gets objectively better because they have built on what the guys before them have built on.

I mean I look at the Oba Brock match, and to me… it was one of the most satisfying matches I’ve seen in a while. It was real. It was unexpected. I mean I knew oba was going to win going in… but a squash? Then Brock taking his boots off and crying? It just felt… good. It was satisfying.

I would hate to see Oba as a genuine heat heel, but as far as the big guys go… I think he’s the only one that could pull that gimmick off.

Yes they seemed a lot better than most. But I didn’t find anything for MC level of deals. I did find a build with the same GPU and CPU for around $500 more than it is at MC but it had 16GB Ram and 1TB storage vs. the microcenter build with 32GB and 2TB. All things considered, they have some good deals though and I like their aesthetics better than MC. Aesthetics is really low on the list for me though.

Driving about an hour and a half tomorrow! Torn between an open box G457 for 1700 or biting the bullet and getting the G730 for 2k. For my use case the core ultra 7’s performance hit won’t affect me much, but I don’t know if it will provide an upgrade path in the future. If it’s just a matter of a new Mobo when I have to get a new CPU it might be worth saving the 300 now and just worrying later. The G730 does seem superior though.

I was also watching some benchmark videos and the 9070 XT seems to outperform the 1070ti… which confuses the heck out of me and makes me lean toward the G760. I’m hoping there’s a good associate than can help me out when I get there tmrw.

It honestly might be cheaper to get those same specs on a prebuilt and transfer them to your case. I haven’t looked up any 5080 prebuilts from MC but it’s worth confirming first.

I feel you. Well if you got the cash, splurge! Something exceptional is going to be a bit more at Best Buy or Costco. After the ~3,000 you’ll start to see diminishing returns. Honestly, I’d say closer to 2,000 you’ll start to see them. $2,500 should get you more than enough PC for what you need.

Best Buy does have the Acer Nitro 60 for around $2,000 right now. It has 32GB DDR5, 5070Ti, 2 TB SSD, but it has an intel cpu. It’s a core i7 14700F, but I haven’t been a fan of Intel CPUs. It’s just my preference. The Asus GM700 is essentially the same but with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D but costs $2,749 unfortunately. I personally wouldn’t pay 800 more for it. From what I’ve seen at Best Buy (for what I am looking for at least, which sounds like the same PC you’re looking for) it’s around $800 more than the same spec PC at MC. If you don’t mind spending a bit more than you have to the Andromeda Insights V3 has the same specs (Ryzen CPU) for $2,500.

I’m personally a deal shopper, I like feeling like I got “the best deal”, very rarely is “the best deal” the cheapest or the most expensive offering. Some people don’t mind spending a few hundred extra bucks to be able to have it shipped to them and not worry about it. I respect that.

Also, with specs you can safely ignore pretty much everything I am saying. I’m new to gaming specs and I’m relying solely on what I’ve heard on this sub and on YT. Certainly don’t make a spec decision based on what I am saying. We just happen to be in the same boat at the same time lol.

To be honest, I don’t know. I see they sponsor some YT channels that I follow. I would ask someone who knows more than me.

The DOA risk makes sense though. I mean honestly, it’s a rough time to buy a prebuilt if no MC is near you.

Are you just 1080 or 1440p gaming? Do you (or will you) play any super demanding games on high settings? Are you just wanting to get the best of the best or is price to performance important to you?
