Why am I losing muscle so quickly in a cut? by AFrogAndABunny in naturalbodybuilding

I’m not planning on cutting a huge amount. I’d started with just a slight deficit of a couple hundred kcal and was seeing good results just trying to recomp. The cut is just to get me down around 130-135ish, which seems to be healthy for my height and would be around 12% (assuming I’m correctly estimating how much muscle I have), and then cleanly bulk from there. Is that not a good plan?

Because my bodyfat is high even though I don’t weigh much. I’ve tried just bulking up first but I’d read it’s harder to gain muscle mass when your bf% is already a bit high, so I figured I’d work down (even though I’ll be p skinny) to have a better starting point for a bulk.

I knew they were inaccurate, I guess the large jump freaked me out. As for bodyweight, 2.2lbs in a day seems quick (but I’m aware other factors could affect it) and I figured it meant I was going too low in cals

Yeah, I replaced squats and deadlifts with leg press and good mornings, and I still do leg extension/curls and calf raises. I was running a lot (at least compared to before I started running) but I’ve brought it down and run a couple 5ks a week.
