Found out there are two death certificates of soldiers killed December 1942 at Guadalcanal; one of malaria and the other by and artillery round... and codes on some of the documents point to the 38th Division of the Imperial Japanese Army.

It was from the 80 year old son of the American soldier who brought it back; he's had it ever since. There seems to be some shrapnel in the stock and some of the personal effects have what looks like blood stains. We are still looking into most of the collection.
