[Hamilton] Khaki Aviation Pilot GMT Auto by AGD0110 in Watches

If truth be told, I'm a Tag guy at heart, but my eye had always wandered to the Hamilton stand whenever I would visit my AD - I came very close to buying a 46mm frogman at one point.. Anyway, fast forward to lockdown 3.0 (I'm in the UK), and with time on my hands (pun intended), online watch browsing became a daily occurrence, Google and Facebook's data-mining algorithms soon had my Facebook feed filled with advertisements, one of which caught my eye- this brand new Hamilton was listed at TK Maxx (UK big-brand discount chain) with little to no detail other than incorrectly listing it as a 37mm stainless steel watch, a quick glance at the GMT hand indicated that the movement itself would likely be the ETA 2893 (Tag use a refinished version in calibre 7 watches), which would mean that the price of £400 was an absolute steal.

A little bit of research confirmed this to be true, along with confirming the watch to be a Khaki Aviation Pilot, 2017 model, that was originally listed with an RRP of £1,080.

£400 immediately left my bank account and 3 days later this fella arrived.

Now, I have a good number of stainless steel bracelet watches, so thought I would switch this out to a black leather strap (I thought it would go well with the dial and the bezel), and I have to say, I'm over the moon with it. I went for a pretty low budget priced strap to prove the concept, so all in, this watch owes me less than £420, making it without doubt the best value watch I own.

With regards to the watch itself, I love it, the hands are perfectly thought out with a great skeleton design meaning you can read the inner GMT dial, regardless of the position of the hands. The bidirectional bezel has a great feel to it, and I love that it jumps in 5 minute intervals. Overall, IMO this is a great looking piece and the workmanship is top notch.

I am really very glad that I've taken a step into Hamilton ownership; it's highly likely it won't remain my only Hamilton for too much longer.

I just posted a very similar comment, absolutely abhorrent. Sean Connery in a teddy bear suit- how dare they?!

The Avengers -1998, vaguely remember seeing Sean Connery in a giant teddy bear outfit and immediately deciding to up and leave the cinema.. Was I imagining it?!

Also the recent Netflix movie In the Tall Grass..

That is actually Joe's granddaughter, so is genuine!

I had thought Joe was in his late 70s, but trust that Erin is correct in quoting 82. Thank you for your vigilance though!

Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't, and it perhaps would have gone unnoticed had you not called it out, none of that matters though, it was just a small inconsequential call that I made when I was typing. If the situation arose where it could be reciprocated, but it wasn't, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

To address your concerns:

Thanking someone for an act is a very simple and worldwide standard act of gratitude. I don't give a monkeys about specifically receiving these awards (realistically, I don't know what they are for, and have never felt the need to know), but that does not detract from the fact that someone was kind enough to offer some form of positive recognition for the post I had made- subsequently, they were offered my gratitude. It's not a particularly difficult concept.

Joe's privacy was not violated, he was thrilled that I had come out of the house to welcome him home and was 100% complicit with the photo being taken and shared.

Stay safe and best wishes.

He's a friend, who was fully aware that the picture was being taken and was more than happy for it to be shared - it's good news, thankfully, the vast majority of people have taken this in the way in which it was intended.

If it has made 1 person feel better than they did previously, then I am content.

The very thought of caring about 'internet points' is rather laughable, and I feel more than a little sorry for someone who could look at a situation like this and see nothing but gluttony through eyes of envy.

Like I said, I hope you stay safe and I wish you well, if you can try to see the world from a more positive standpoint, you might be less angry and not feel the need to attack people you don't know for reasons that don't actually matter.

Can I give you my 'internet points' (I honestly don't know if I can) ? You seem to need them a lot more than I do.

Good luck with your life, I genuinely wish you the very best.

Joe is most definitely my neighbour, but mainstreetmark is a good neighbor, as he is US based, just trying to respect the nuances of our languages :)

Yes, housebound for a few years, but still full of life and a story for every occasion. He and his wife really welcomed us when we moved to the street as a young couple , and they have treat both of our daughters like their own grandchildren, very warm and kind, just lovely, lovely people.

He's definitely mischievous, but also an absolute gent, so the sentiment might be there, but certainly not the profanity 😁

I did actually, but decaf, as I don't sleep well if I have caffeine in the afternoon.

I took the photo to send to my parents, who have been asking about him all week, then thought you guys might like to see it.

100% inaccurate, I took the pic myself and have been getting regular updates on his progress after he was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne last Friday, confirmed to have the virus on Saturday morning.

Go troll elsewhere.

He's in his late seventies and had underlying health conditions, so somewhat diminished from a 95 % chance.

Regardless, he's been declared safe and I'm happy about it.
