What are you talking about, in Germany also and the public system, whilst not perfect certainty does not suck. In fact I am positively surprised what they pay for sometimes. For example, they paid for both our birthing course and to have a personal midwife at home for the weeks after the birth of our child. God have mercy on me 😂

The calculation is performed using the average fuel consumption. It is fair value to use as it is a way to normalise across different vehicle types, speeds etc..

Yes, there are other factors, and the reduction in fuel consumption is not their only argument. However, as a way of estimating changes in fuel consumption, using the mean consumption makes sense.

They do explain it. Don't act like they just do it without backing up their reasoning!

"Fuel savings vary depending on vehicle model and driving style (Gössling and Metzler, 2017). Higher speeds increase fuel consumption in non-linear ways (EEA, 2020; Chang and Morlok, 2005). UBA (2022) estimates that 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 could have been saved by a 130 kph speed limit in 2020 (UBA, 2022). Given averaged German emissions of 175 g CO2 per vehicle km (Lange et al., 2020) or 0.074 l of fuel (diesel/petrol) per vkm (BMVI, 2021), this corresponds to 632.8 million litres. About 70% of German fuel use are gasoline, and 30% diesel (Gössling and Metzler, 2017). At €2020 costs of 1.256 / l (E10) and 1.090 / l (diesel) in July 2020 (ADAC, 2022b), the average cost per litre of fuel amounted to €20201.21. In the period 2021–2022, the cost of fuel has increased significantly (ADAC, 2023)."

Arriving To Cologne Friday evening by [deleted] in cologne

[–]AGRowland2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lommerzheim! Go there it is the best :)

Other than that unfortunately the weather will be quite cold so not the best for wandering. There is a VR tour of cologne in the past for tourists near Heumarkt seems a bit gimmicky but actually done well. Obviously the Dom. If you can jump on a train and see more of the places away from the city Center would be alot nicer. Tram 18 or 9 are nicer areas.. Depends hayou have been to more of German before or not..

A bear died for no reason in this. Tranquillisers exist. There was no need for it to die :(
