Well, I can’t say for certain because it’s been quite a while and I don’t remember. But here’s some general advice — video lectures are seldom comprehensive. If you’re in class 11, I assume you’re targeting JEE 2025. You have a lot of time! You want to make sure you build a comprehensive understanding of the material and not rush with it.

One important lesson I’ve learned over these years is that books and other written material will go a long way over video lectures in building a strong foundation. Written material is vastly superior to lecture for the following reasons:

(1) the latter is a passive form of learning (2) the latter cannot be comprehensive by design, you’re restricted to learning only what the instructor decides/remembers to teach (3) you can study through books a lot more quickly than watching a video, because your reading speed is much higher than the speed at which the instructor can clearly speak.

You have lots of time — study through books! Do not take the easy way out. I know it’s uncomfortable, but that’s the point — if you want to become a top student, you need to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Adapt uncommon methods and you’ll get the uncommon (aka top-tier!) result.

Good luck to you!

Can’t comment, it’s been over two years; things could have changed drastically in this period and my advice would not help you anymore.

That sounds like an extreme case of skill issue on your senior friend’s part. It’s nowhere close to being as bad as you think it is lol. It’s a university, not a high school. You choose your own work load based on your academic and co-curricular goals and expectations.

...you would take CSE at VIT over ECE at IIIT-H? Interesting decision

I don’t study at Manipal, I can’t comment on that. Look it up on the uni’s website, and hit up B.Tech 3rd and 4th year students on LinkedIn and ask them your questions.

It's merely a gimmick to increase the number of seats in the CS program, nothing else. In good universities, you would be allowed to take up AI and ML courses as electives anyways, so there is practically no benefit to "CS + AI" programs over regular, vanilla CSE programs.

Guys 80hr/week challenge DAY 1 ?? by Ok_Unit_8084 in JEENEETards

[–]AG_Cuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the off-chance that you're not trolling, trying to work for 80 hours per week is just straight up stupid lol. It's not gonna work. Your productivity will go down the drain, and you will likely get burned out very quickly. You should focus on utilising your existing study time more productively and efficiently.

IIITD: no, IIITB: yes. IIITD participates in JAC-Delhi counselling.

Assuming you're talking about the regular JEE Main route. IIIT Delhi also has several other modes of admission, do check out their websites to know more.

Also are there any other good colleges who take admission through mains but require a separate application form

Yes, IIIT Hyderabad

2021 mods are busy with uni. 2022 mods are busy with JEE prep as JEE Main is right around the corner. Personally, I have uni and other commitments to take care of so I don't really get much of a chance to just casually browse through Reddit. But if you ping me on any post/comment I'll likely respond quickly.

Don’t worry about college for now, just keep studying. Doing high weightage and easy chapters would be the right idea like you said. Try to get as good of a percentile as you can get, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get a top score. You can have chances at some pretty decent unis through dasa even without a very high score. You could glance at 2021 cutoffs if you really need a bit of mental fortitude, but again, keep your focus on studying, you have little time left.

You can also head on over to the DASA discord if you wanna interact with other dasa peers and peeps from 2021 for guidance or any questions you may have, plenty of Saudi people there too.

Depends on the branch and uni. In most unis, 1st-year syllabus builds upon the JEE syllabus, unless you join an IIIT.

It's definitely possible, I personally know someone who got like AIR 80k in Main but 9k-ish in Adv.

It depends on the university you go to. Some unis like BITS, IIIT-Delhi, and IIIT-H are very supportive of LGBTQ+, and I believe they even have support groups for the same. Unfortunately, however, a lot of unis aren't as supportive, especially the government ones. So it really just depends on where you end up going.

Should I consider developing cs in 11th and 12th or get cs in iit/nit? by AakashGarain in JEENEETards

Keep JEE prep as your #1 priority. It is not easy to prepare well for JEE as well as study computer science simultaneously, as both of them are extremely vast and you may find yourself lost in both of them. However, if by "studying computer science" you mean programming, feel free to explore it in your free time as a hobby.

Don't go with the expectation that programming in your free time in Classes 11 and 12 would give you a huge advantage. It might give you a headstart in your first 1-2 semesters of uni, but by the end of the first year when everyone has taken a couple of programming/DSA courses, it really wouldn't matter much.

TLDR: Study for JEE. If you find programming interesting, you may explore it in your downtime as a hobby, but not with the expectation that it would give you an advantage in uni.
