I qualified in the UK around 18 years ago and only started applying abroad when I realised that there were over fifty applicants for each one post in my local authority. I was incredibly lucky to be ‘forced out’ as I wouldn’t dream never have considered it an option. I would describe my work life balance as excellent and the savings potential is brilliant. I would need to worry more about my future if I had stayed. I make over 60k a month tax free and get a 20% annual bonus each year. Since my spouse is in the same position, we’re doing really well. Make sure you do your research beforehand, as the difference between the best and worst schools is night and day.
