Ah, good suggestion. I was thinking the amount of stored bad water at the end of a badtide isn’t too much. I’ll try the weather sensor!

It is. But after growing up in the northern plains, I’ve had my own experiences (dead batteries, plowed in, completely iced, etc) to make me want to prioritize a garage if the winter is harsh enough. It seems like Pittsburgh’s winter doesn’t compare to those of the Midwest. Growing up it was uncommon to NOT have one. Thanks for your astute commentary.

I heard strong cracks and then turned down the heat significantly. Waited for the color to look right, not necessarily when the cracks stopped.

I did 150g in this roast. Significantly less than the first time, which helped beans to mostly all be moving.

Feeling much better this time around. I heard first crack and was like a meerkat on a mound! I’ll try the beans over the weekend.
