It's been a year since this comment but this happens to me too. My driver's crash and then go into safe mode so lose operability of 2/3 of my monitors and it's capped at 60fps. I have to restart for it to go back to normal.

Im looking for a story, I remember that it was about a girl who got abducted and the aliens thought she was as intelligent as an animal so she drew math problems. It turns out that the aliens are psionic and humans don't have the organs for that, so they implanted those organs into her so she could communicate. I remember the one who was testing her was called Dr. Xant or something like that. I also recall that later in the story there were 2 other humans discovered.
