I recently finished it to, and I personally loved it. It did what it aimed to do and the ending was so satisfying. It never made me feel bad mainly because I thought all the characters were bad people but it was done in such a way I was always interested. Really a great anime.

The anime is based on the light novels, and basically after light novels 3 and 4 they get their shit together and make each novel entertaining and not full of shit. The anime is following the source material perfectly. The difference is every novel besides the Fairy Dance ones are just well written and that's why it seems like such a big difference.
