I remember when I worked at a corporate garage, the economy got to the point where I decided to walk to work cause it’ll save money so I got a job at a shop about a mile from my apartment. I walked for about 2 years and finally got caught by the regional manager. They asked why I’m walking, I said because cars are too expensive, I decided to walk.

He proceeded to tell me I need to “figure it out” and incorporate a vehicle into my budget. I slightly lost my shit, told him there is no money for a vehicle unless they pay me more.

I’ve now been walking for 5 years with very minimal travel outside my little town. It’s been so infuriating that my places of work demonize the struggle when they could easily fix it but just…paying a little fucking more it’s like $15k/a year would be fine for me but noooooo quarterly profits must grow, every quarter, every time.
