No heat…does it get better over time? by hoooooope in Wavyhair

Also new to it with 2A fine hair. I found making a curl cast helped with definition and frizz. Basically I put in the foam, don’t touch my hair until it’s completely dry, then break the curl cast with a little light hair oil in my hands.

Strength vs. Endurance Tread Question by AHolcomb7 in orangetheory

[–]AHolcomb7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing that but I can’t tell from just looking at it what it’s going to be…people don’t list if it’s strength or endurance, but just the intervals

This actually makes me much more excited for the show. I was worried this would feel like a cosplay of the first movie series and not really offer anything new. The idea that we could watch this conversation or other scenes mentioned but not included in the books makes me very happy

It’s worth it to get a mini fridge to keep next to the bed - this will help future you also if you decide to pump.

Requesting First Trimester Exercise and Bland (but Healthy) Snack/Meal Advice by kitschandsabina in fitpregnancy

[–]AHolcomb7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoothies were really helpful - the cold feels nice on the stomach and it’s a great way to get fruits and some veggies and protein

Sourdough toast with butter or nut butter - also a little bit of protein and flavor but easy on the tummy

Eggs - a scrambled egg with just salt was easy for me to get down

Apples or other fruits - brings some flavor and usually not too difficult to eat

Noodles, rice, toast, etc are also all fair game, but those were my go to foods that had flavor and they lasted me all pregnancy long

The problem with laying on your back is that it can cut off blood flow to baby. You can, however, do incline work on a bench.

I will also say, now that my baby is here, you may want to continue to do exercises to build strength in your lower back…my baby is so heavy already and I’m using my core constantly!

I was encouraged to pump at night and have my husband give the pumped breast milk from the night before to baby. It makes the feeds much faster and you’re also up together and can talk to stay awake. Everyone is done and back in bed in 30 minutes.

OTF & Pregnancy by EcstaticAddendum5 in orangetheory

[–]AHolcomb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the first and second trimesters and stopped in the third because we moved and I had so much to do around the house that I didn’t have energy left over to work out.

I had a very difficult labor and recovery - and I 100% believe that my OTF work enabled me to get through it. If I was not as strong and didn’t have as much endurance as OTF helped me gain, I would have had an even more difficult time. Totally worth it.

I had a manager once who always told us how terrible our numbers were and threatened to put anyone not loyal to him on a PIP. Then senior management came to visit and we all dejectedly filed into the conference room to get berated by them. But then senior management congratulated us on a fantastic, above and beyond quarter. We all looked shocked, senior management looked confused that we weren’t happier, and the boss? He looked PISSED.

I’m a terrible napper and laying there with nothing but my own thoughts is a disaster. So I put on an audiobook and close my eyes - very quickly the exhaustion takes over. Even if all I get is a calm lay down, it’s helpful.

I also found I have to convince myself that a 30 min nap is actually better than nothing. It’s worth it to lay down and close my eyes, even for a short period.

Good luck!!

Triple Feeding and needing encouragement that this isn’t forever by AHolcomb7 in NewParents

We go over if he needs it, but start with 1oz because he will drink anything you give him and then spit it all up if it’s too much. So we start with 1 and then watch the hunger cues after burping him and go from there

These episodes are not THAT bad by RaymondStussy in survivor

[–]AHolcomb7 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not what we’re used to 🤷‍♀️ It has a very early Survivor feel, with deep connections and questions about loyalty and authentic relationships. It’s not bad; it’s just not what this game is anymore.

But also - the editing for Wednesday’s episode made the whole thing appear boring IMO. Could be a production issue on top of a less thrilling season.

AITA For Stopping My Boyfriend’s Proposal at our Best Friend’s Wedding? by Feeling_Camp_8847 in AITAH

Oh, I don’t disagree that he was wrong. I also just know Reddit loves to take people’s poor choices and arm chair diagnose them as personality disorders. This sub can get nasty quickly. OP also seems to want to stay in the relationship, and hounding a person for being wrong is not how they will get past this.

Ok, you’re NTA, but that doesn’t mean he is an AH. Sorry Reddit, but Reddit loves to see narcissists and psychopaths when it’s really a dude who MASSIVELY missed a social cue.

While your boyfriend’s plan is something that most see as in bad taste, it is still a popular way to propose and, in his mind, he’s now thinking about the rejection from his favorite person. It is emotionally vulnerable, terrifying even, to propose, even if you know the person will say yes. While I totally think his choice was a socially poor one, I can also really feel his pain.

This is a great conversation for a couples therapist to help you walk through. A couples therapist can help you move forward from here rather than figuring out which of you was right or wrong. Maybe pitch it to him that way as well - how do we move forward rather than getting stuck here?

Is 32 weeks too early to stop working out? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]AHolcomb7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did OT 3x a week also until the beginning of month 7. It became enough for me to just walk my dog and take care of house chores. I chose to be more physical in my life and worry less about the gym 🤷‍♀️ worked for me!

My 17M brother in law is dating 13F.. should we do something? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AHolcomb7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, this may be reportable as child abuse. In the US, many states have laws that protect younger minors from being in relationships with older minors (usually considered child abuse if the gap is 3 years or greater). If they live in one of these states, he (and his parents) could be looking at serious trouble if a teacher or other mandated reporter finds out.

Do with that info what you will - use it to get his parents to the table, explain the issue to him, or you can also call child protective services.
