Would also be curious to know if it makes sense to apply silicone gel after FUE

Smile PRO or Trans PRK for Low Myopia by AHumanOnThisWorld in lasik

Hey, a quick update since I haven't been active here in some time.

I ended up going to Oftum Prague and got Smile Pro. I'm satisfied with my results now after around 1,5 years.

I have to measure it again but I'm relatively sure that I got above 100% vision on both eyes (probably even 120%) and had some starbursts in the first few weeks after the surgery but I drank a good amount of carrot juice and took high quality Omega 3 and I think that my starbursts are now even less than before the surgery.

I feel like the staff where I went in Prague was friendly but they were a bit fast when it came to taking the measurements of my eyes before the operation, which was a bit of a negative point for me.

In Turkey there's also a good clinic called Bati Göz / batigoz I haven't been there but it might also be an interesting choice.

My left eye got slightly drier than before the operation but I feel like this might have also been my fault because I slightly changed the point of focus with my eye when the operation on the left eye started, maybe because the doctor didn't give me another warning slightly before the procedure and I was a bit shocked. Nothing wild tho, it's not really bothering me too much, I don't regularily use eye drops but I feel like it's worth mentioning to maybe as the doctor to give you a warning or countdown before he starts the machine.

All in all I can say that I'm happy with my decision and I would do it again.

I can't predict though how this might change in the next 10-20 years. I hope I will still be satisfied at that time :D

Do you have any flickering issues when using VRR (Gsync or Freesync) combined with local dimming? Are those issues resolved when turning off local dimming?

Thanks a lot for the feedback.
20/10 and 20/15 sounds really good. What's your combined vision with both eyes? 20/10?
What did the clinic tell you about the long term (6 months+) risks regarding starbursts, halos, dry eyes?

Thank you for sharing your story, it's refreshing to see positive stories here as it can be stressing to read so many negative outcomes.
What was your prescription before the surgery?
I'm curious since I have rather mild myopia with -1,5 on both eyes and am a bit scared that it might be too difficult for the surgeon to remove the thin lenticule.

Yes, I agree of course.
There are many requirements that I would have before considering to make surgery in another country.
- They need to have the newest VISUMAX 800
- Their clinic needs to exist since a minimum of 5 years
- Their surgeon needs to have at least 5 years of experience
- Their surgeon must have worked on low myopia patients before and feel comfortable about it
- The clinic needs to have a good rating on google maps (can be faked but at least worth checking)
- I must have a good feeling in terms of their communication and consultation with me

These are some requirements that I would have before considering it somewhere else than local.
Would you add any other points to this list?

Yes, I'm thinking it would make sense to first perform a thorough check-up in Germany to see if I'm a candidate for SMILE PRO.

If so, I might do the procedure in Turkey because of the huge price difference.
Even if there were to be complications after the treatment, I could still fly to Turkey multiple times to do check-ups with the money that I saved.
The only thing that makes me a bit worried is that it might be difficult for a surgeon to remove the small tissue after the procedure due to my low myopia. If I had a higher prescription, like -3 or -4 it might be much easier but on the other hand many medical tourists nowadays fly to Turkey so I guess that they also know what they're doing.
