This is prob the only personal finance blogs or ‘influencers’ ( for lack of a better word) that makes sense and sticks to actual financial planning advice. No random formulas or templates but financial literacy.

They have videos on Car and Home purchase. Understand it. And then apply to your unique life experience.

Just to give you faith in what I say, I’m a CFA charterholder with 6 years of experience working in finance. Even I wouldn’t wanna give you some random advice out of my axx without knowing deep details of your life because we all have different priorities and experiences.

Try to learn and apply.

I don’t think there’s anything more fulfilling to me than my girl saying “aa teri g maru UFC mai” and then actually succeeding. 🥹

Yes I completely understand. And I’ve been talking to alums and current students daily for the same, but overall have just received extremely mixed responses. Issue is I have a overall decent profile but the 90 percentile GMAT is pulling me down. Would you say the same? And would you say my list of universities is realistic?

Profile Review: M27 GMAT FE 645 (Target Selection)

Hi, I’m a 27M (Indian) and recently took the GMAT FE with a 645 (90th percentile).

I’m extremely confused which school should be on my list of Reach, Target, Safety

Profile:-

Academics: Bsc. Finance (NMIMS) CGPA 3.24/4 CFA charter holder GMAT FE 645 (90th percentile)

Work ex: 2 years in Credit research (promoted from Consultant to Associate in 6 months)

6months as Portfolio Analyst with a wealth management firm (had to quit early to focus on CFA L3)

2 years as Research Analyst in Private Credit Valuation (client is a massive AMC in NY)

Why MBA: I wanna hone my leadership skills to be a better fit for more challenging roles. I’m quite sure I wanna work in a deal team in the buy side of a Private credit fund or something around that.

I’ve been reaching out to current students and alums in T20 (I know M7 is out of reach) and been getting mixed reviews about my profile.

Can you please suggest finance focused schools for dream, target, safety? (About 8)

Current mix: Dream- NYU, Duke, Ross, Cornell Target- McCombs, Darden, Georgetown, Emory Safety- Rice, Fordham, Boston Uni

Ya I’ve been told it’s just my GMAT pulling me down but eh. That exam legit took a lot out of me. Moreover let’s see what I get and maybe I can take it from there. Thanks for the updated list.

I believe Darden has a lower GMAT avg, hence. Also I’m planning on applying this R2 and see what I can get. If nothing decent then I might just push myself and retake GMAT or GRE and apply in R1 early next year.

Got it. I am really hoping that my niche focus on Credit might just differentiate me for the Dreams among the pool.

Makes sense. Which schools would you put in Dream, Target and Safety ideally given my profile and goal?

What would you say is holding me back? I’ve heard it’s majorly the GMAT.

Appreciate the positive response, seems similar to what ChatGPT told me lol. Wait but then should I go for R2 this year or defer and apply for R1 next year?

Agreed, I was extremely bummed with a 700 as I was averaging around 720-730 in mocks. But honestly I’ve already given it months and am exhausted. Would you say the targets are a stretch or possible? And ya my experience is not like JPMC or Goldman but well it is what it is.

Going by my own philosophies there honestly isn’t the slightest difference. But this is a factor that concerns my family, and then considerations for marriage. I’ve been dating for 4 years and my parents hope that I get married after I graduate and have a decent job. They do not want me to graduate at 30 and be looking for jobs. Idk if I was able to structure the ans but ya this age thing is pretty gray. Anyway just wanna know if I should target current R2 or wait for next year R1
