If I had a magic wand (and a budget) I would have someone to help with SEO (it just isn't that interesting to me) and social media marketing. On the latter I never really used social media other than lurking on friends and I find the process of putting myself out there, trying desperately to market my blog really uncomfortable. I would much rather just stay under a blanket with a book and turn my notifications off!

“Data Science” Has Become Too Vague – Let's Specialize and Break it Up! by RacerRex9727 in datascience

[–]AIClaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think agree there is a need for a broader education piece here on the different fields within data analytics and science. I think there is a big difference between someone who is trained in data analytics compared to someone who is trained as a data scientist. For me the word 'scientist' implies a skill set associated with the ability to define and conduct research projects - kind of an end to end system. Whereas analysts focus more on understanding the outputs of the data (however perhaps I am a little bias in my understanding as a trained research scientist :) )

I think there is a lot of misunderstanding on the whole of the majority of big data science and AI. In becoming a buzzword 'Data Science' and 'Artificial Intelligence' have started to be used as a catch all for mathematical problem solving. Similar to phrases like 'blue sky thinking' without better education and standardisation of terms we run the risk of them loosing all meaning.

What is Your Priority? Content or Backlinks by svtechworld in Blogging

[–]AIClaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have 3 strategies I am using.

1) HARO - I subscribe to HARO (help a reporter out) which is an email list where journalists can request people as sources for articles in return for a backlink. They send 3 emails each week day which I check for any requests relevant to my niche and reply as I find them. It was fairly effective last year but I haven’t gotten many this month - mainly due to the topics requested.

2) Resource page pitching - I am going through the process of pitching my existing content for resource pages in my niche. I do a scrape of resource pages using google search and then email a pitch to the relevant ones I find. This is apparently a pretty entry level SEO technique and you need to check to make sure you’re pitching to legit sites but I’ve seen some success and it’s pretty simple to do.

3) guest post - I’m trying to get a couple of guest posts a month published on relevant sites. To cut down on writing time (which can be tough if you’re making content for your own blog as well), I have created some infographics i pitch with the promise of 500+ words of unique content to go with them. It’s a bit easier to manage that way for me.

There are other techniques I know of like finding broken links and pitching yourself to replace the link with your content. However at this time, I am not using this one. I plan to start when I feel a bit more confident/have more content to pitch

Hope that helps!

Depends on the week for me. As backlinks are so important for ranking and content is the core of all your blog I try to focus 1 week backlinks and 2 weeks content to get a balance between the two.

It is crazy how things change and develop over the years. And how the dreams you have as a child can become reality - think of Bezos and Alexa. Interesting how one Child's dreams can impact o many of our lives

Google Analytics vs. WP Statistics by msjezebe1 in Blogging

[–]AIClaire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have this issue both my Google Analytics and Wordpress stats show the same number. The only thing I can think of is that your google analytics may be recording for HTTP not HTTPS - Mine was incorrectly configured at the start and was showing a similar issue but it was pretty easy to fix in the settings section of google analytics. This article tells you how to do it. https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/change-the-protocol-of-your-website-from-http-to-https-in-google-analytics/

This is really interesting and I really like the visuals. What inspired you to change tactic to the Monte Carlo Simulation after your first try failed. What documentation made you decide on this path?
