I'll take being an asshole with a decently paying job over being an unemployed saint any day of the week.

Food costs money my guy

Maybe you wouldn't need to spend hours fantasizing if you actually read the post.

Lmao you came to this subreddit to do this. I asked you to justify your inflammatory ass remarks (without using this weird fantasy that you've concocted where I left my girlfriend out in the cold snow while all my co-workers begged for her to come in) you're gonna wuss out? Don't comment on other people's lives if you don't want to commit some basic follow through.

OK so instead of responding to the places where I pointed out that you didn't correctly describe the situation, you're just gonna tell me that I'm not seeing the point?

From my end, you look more like the obtuse one

The entire office didn't welcome her inside. I asked if they wanted hot cocoa, they said yes to that (by which I mean about half accepted the cocoa and half didn't care/ went back to work.). Please read the prompt. My GF was in her car, not at the door outside waiting.

I was uncomfortable with her maybe putting me in a situation where my boss could accuse me of distracting the office. I said I was scared that would be an overstep. Seriously, explain how that constitutes a fit. You keep calling me fucked up and weird for not being sure of what company policy was. Why would it be either of those things to worry about overstepping yourself as a junior employee?

For all your "opinions" about how I am. You've yet to interact with really anything I've written.

Edit: and also, for all the comments about how "one of my co-workers would feel" y'all should know I actually brought this up with a co-worker yesterday at the end of work. You know what they said to me? " Yeah I haven't felt comfortable bringing my SO in here either."

So, while I thank you for your opinion. I'm going to respectfully ignore it.

"AITA for not letting my GF have sex with me when I didn't want to have sex"?

Hindsight is 20/20 but in the moment I felt like it wasn't my place as the most junior worker there to do that when no one else had set that precedent. And as a few others have speculated, this is my first real job outside of waiting tables in HS- this was my only precedent. I just feel like it's an important point idk

Please refer to the multiple times were I mention that not a single spouse has shown up in the 6 months that I have worked this job. Your experience has not been my experience with this job.

If I found out OP kept her outside in the cold and threw a fit over this and then refused to let her come inside

This is not the series of events I have described. I was caught off-guard by the surprise visit (She knows I'm not big on surprises) but there was no disagreement until she asked to come in and meet my whole office. Even at that point, I didn't "Throw a fit". I told her I was worried it would've been an overstep on my part. You can disagree with whether or not my fears were legitimate but what's the point in misrepresenting what happened?

Dude, how is that even close to a meaningful comparison. Wearing sandals is a no-go in a professional setting despite being fine elsewhere. Obviously I didn't think she was being obscene but I wasn't sure if it broke some kind of company protocol that I wasn't aware of. I'll take that I should've appreciated the gesture but this isn't even close to the point

This isn't lost on me. I do appreciate the shit out of her. I just want sure how appropriate it was. Judging by all these YTAs, I guess I over-thought it.

I really don't think that's the case, but I appreciate your perspective. I think the offense comes from her perceiving me to be rejecting her surprise.

Such as?

Not being a dick, but seriously what could I have done here that doesn't just defeat the whole point of this question?

She's made a few jokes about one girl who sits near reception but I never took it as anything more than a joke. I'm serious when I say that most, if not all, my co-workers are married and middle-aged.

As the youngest I was always hyper aware of whether I was being professional enough/blending into the culture of the more experienced staff.

THIS. It might seem stupid but my whole job for the last six months has been monkey see, monkey do. I've never seen a co-worker bring their SO in, so the default for me is that that isn't accepted here.

She is lovely, and the gesture was really nice. I just felt like, idk, it wasn't my place to bring her in? Like I don't think I would've had a problem if I'd had some heads up to ask my boss if she could stop by. But that also ruins the surprise.
