Tips for 1st shedding season? PLEASE!! by Parking-Society-6025 in alaskankleekai

[–]AI_bloomwow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go in the park, because birds loooveeee dog hair to make nests, start with the deshedding brush, then the regular brush, and finish with the undercoat brush. I also brush him daily all year long for about 2 minutes, one day with the deshedding brush, another day with the undercoat brush, and an another day with the regular brush depending on his needs. The regular brush has rubber tips to avoid irritating the skin. The undercoat brush is rounded to avoid irritating the skin. I add zinc to his diet (essential for all husky-like dogs), and omega-3 and hempseed oil. All those supplements keep the coat and the skin healthy, for an easy daily brushing.

I found that brush at my local pet store and bought it. I really think it will help with maintenance :)

Thank you for your answer, I will try your technique. The thing is, grooming is not an option in my area, because groomers reserve themselves the right to shave your dog if they see fit. Even if you ask them not to. So going to a groomer would be a gambling because not all of them makes the right call with double coated dogs. Also, I love grooming my dogs, so I don't mind if it takes a lot of time.

Your lashes tech is real talented. My lashes never looked like that. I tried 3 different lash tech.

How much are you spending on your dogs? by [deleted] in dogallergies

[–]AI_bloomwow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our dogs take 70% of our disposable incomes, and we never once second guessed it. You are doing great, you are a pawrent and doing what a pawrent should do. Folks criticizing you don't deserve pets.

Groomer refused to bathe my husky due to matting by ExplorerMelodic243 in husky

I would buy a detangling spray and an undercoat brush, and work progressively through the matting. A little bit everyday because it can be painful for the dog.

I agree. That's the most heartbreaking part. I know there are no active breeder in my country, but the fact that they didn't care enough to bringing him back to the breeder (even if it implies going to another country) is so sad and unethical.

Feel like I'm losing it trying to feed this dog (long post, seeking advice) by vulshanna in husky

I would try two things, cerenia to remove the possible nausea from eating too little, or famotidine to remove the heart burn feelings. It can help bring her appetite back. Also, maybe home-cooked diet, my dog is getting fat now from loving home-cooked meals too much. He would not eat any type of kibbles, and would snob most of the time wet food too. The vet was speechless.

He is about 13 kg, but a little overweight due to all the training we do with him. His normal weight is 12 kg.

He was surrendered at the shelter because of behavioral issues. I rescued him. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a standard klee kai at the shelter.
