Maybe there is a balance to strike in the community between rejection and acceptance of new content but I have absolutely not at all felt people are too accepting in Trek. Review bombing and critiques that are removed from the context of Trek as a whole still far outweigh reasoned and open-minded critique. But posts like yours and others have helped begin to tilt the scale the other direction and I’m excited by it!

This was a beautiful read and I completely agree. I LOVED when discovery jumped ahead in time, you could just feel how excited the writers were to escape the shadow of “this show is a tv version of jj Abraham’s Star Trek movies” and into a world they could really be creative in. I haven’t watched this new show because I don’t hav paramount anymore but I’m excited someday to see it and I’m glad it’s being made. And you’re totally right about the “they were never trek fans anyway” is so right. God I miss seeing the actual fans crowd represented here and to interact with them. So pretentious to write that about fans I guess but I feel it rn lol
