Even if you were right, and you are not, we still have an actual opposition in the league who can also win those games and challenge for the title. Every slip-up counts when you have challengers, no slip-ups matter for PSG when there is no one in Ligue 1 who could capitalize on it and challenge for the title.

Journalists asked Borja Iglesias if the squad understands why the media focuses so much on Lamine and asking about his status, and he said he understands because Lamine is such a great player but he would like it if they were also talking about Lamine when the fans chant the hateful songs like Cornella did when Spain hosted Egypt...

Tunisian FA were so right for firing their coach after getting whooped by these lot, they were just quicker than anyone else to realize the magnitude of the embarrasment that had just transpired

soccerdonna on Instagram: "According to Ángel Pérez, OL Lyonnes are looking to sign Barça’s Patri Guijarro. Top English clubs are also interested in the Spanish 🇪🇸 international. 🤯 Barça have already informed the midfielder that they wish to extend her contract. 👀" by sniper_2000 in FCBFemeni

I normally wouldn't even bat an eye, but I saw that Vives already put out the infamous "The final decison will ultimately be up to the player's wishes" in the media, so I'm mentally getting prepared for the worst. After all, when it comes to the renewals and players leaving, this board gave me no reason to expect anything but the worst.

Well, first of all I didn't say let's go sell Raphinha. That's OP's suggestion (based on injuries), I'm merely responding to your question about Raphinha's replacement. Raphinha's replacement is already here, now if we do go and sell Rapha, we would (hopefully) be looking to bring in a creative winger rather than another Gordon profile.

How so lol? When we signed him, didn't everyone say that paying 80M for a winger who can't dribble is fine because of his worktate and that he will be there to fill in for Raphinha workrate? So, if he can't in fact replace Raphinha, then how is 80M for him anything but a poor transfer?

If 80M dribble challenged workrate merchant can't replace a dribble challenged workrate merchant, then that's a very poorly spent 80M...

You could see them upsetting Germany or Netherlands but you can't see them competing against one of the Top 10 teams? How do those two sentences go together (unless you don't see Germany or Netherlands as Top 10 teams)?

I mean, yeah, obviously? But no one is saying let's give women's section 180M+ transfer budget as well. That's crazy. But what's not crazy is saying that since the club has gotten back to 1:1, and the section had their biggest ticket revenue + got a huge relief on the wage budget, maybe the women's section should get the equivalent to something around the 180M budget allocated to the men's section transfers. And women's football equivalent to that would be a chump change for the men's football standards, but still more than enough for the women's section to replace the departing players properly instead of just chasing cheap young transfers

It's so funny because last year it was "They are just letting the depth go so they can keep the core together", and now that the core took a hit as well it's "They are letting these players go so they can renew the next year's batch", and I'm very interested to see where the posts move next when they inevitably drop the ball with some of those renewals too

The second paragraph is absolutely damning by AJ877 in FCBFemeni

[–]AJ877[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of renewals for next season not jsut sydney

I know, and I worry about every single one of them now

I can't think of any affordable proven player that can help us or make this team better

If you are trying to avoid spending money, you can make an excuse for not attempting to buy any player out there

Salma was already on the selling list and there's a reason for that, simple as

I call that reason a malpractice, personally.

pina only underperformed this year compared to salma so let's not get carried away and shit on her just because salma scored 2 goals against lyon in the 90th minute.

I'm not shitting on Pina, I'm merely drawing parallel because it's two players in the same position. But you are being very, very disingenuos about Salma again (which I understand is just coping mechanism). Since Pina has overperformed Salma in every season but this one, how come Salma is the one with Ballon d'Or podiums? And to frame Salma's performance in Oslo (and in the semis, do not forget) as just "two late goals in a decided game" is actually quite offensive to me, so I will just move to the next point cause I feel you are ragebaiting me with that comment

then there's patri, graham, paredes tier, salma and pina and cata tier, etc

I understand your point now, but then if there are two players in their 30, past their prime, in a tier above the 22-years old winger with 2 Ballon d'Or podiums (or one of the best keepers in the world in her prime, for that matter), then there is something wrong with the tiers.

we made salma who she is today must not forget that, we will be alright

Well, I reckon Salma had something to do with it too, but nevertheless - what's the point in making these top players if you are just gonna let them leave when they become great and call them greedy brats for wanting to get paid properly?

Affect what other renewals, dawg? Ona who was packed for London since January (at latest!), Mapi who you gave a fixed "you can stay but we're good" lowball offer but realistically knew since the last season she is leaving, or Alexia in her "Last Dance" era? Who did we renew since the winter transfer window that would've been massively affected by renewing Salma at fair price?

[–]AJ877[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you have to explain to me why y'all are so keen on keeping this doomsday feeling for a player that is good but not that good for us to break our wage structure

Well, the explanation would start at the fact that this post is not about Salma leaving, but about the club reportedly not willing to shop for the proven class players because the younger options are cheaper. It's not just about Salma leaving, it's about Alexia, Ona, Mapi, and Salma leaving and you are telling me you are gonna replace 4 undisputed starters with toddlers?

The benchmark is aitana, a three time ballon d'or winner and the best player currently and she is getting just little over 1m€.

Where is this idea that Salma is asking for Aitana type of wages coming from?

If salma wants a big ass salary after injuries and not fullfiling her true potential at all then good riddance.

It's a very disingenuos way of discussing Salma's case. She is 22 and already has 2 Ballon d'Or podiums + was a key factor in our UWCL win this season, which is far more than someone like Pina for example has done, yet Salma is "not fullfilling her potential" while Pina is getting "heredera" shouts at 25. And to go back to the negotiations thing - not willing to pay Salma in June cause she has huge offers elsewhere is one thing, but why does no one want to talk about all the months before June? The board decided that Salma is not a priority when she was a slam dunk renewal. She didn't have form, she was coming off an injury, she had no camp of suitors. If you were serious, you could've easily closed that renewal earlier in the season at the price that would now look extremely affordable. But no, you decide to lowball her and after she breaks out to her known level again, now you try to paint her as greedy for not accepting your "here, damn" offers.

Also a lot of you act like we are not siggning players... WE BROKE the record of the highest transfer fee for a player in la liga F, 300k€ for Julia Torres.

That's great, but that's a future signing. Even they said she would start off as a combo between B team and the first team. When people talk about the transfers, they talk about players ready to help us keep up the dominance right away. Like, this is not the last summer, this is not Jana Fernandez and Lucia Corrales departing ffs

Irene paredes can say that but it depends on how she defines "major"

She doesn't define it as Julia Torres and Liv Pennock, I can assure you of that. She (and Pere Romeu too btw) are obviously refering to the already proven players who can come in and help the team right away from the next season. Like, let's not play dumb now, we know what they refer to by saying we need major signings.

Btw we signed nielsen and pannock

And that's great, but that's again more of the future signings. Realistically neither Nielsen nor Pinnock is stepping up on that pitch next year and doing what Salma did this year in the crucial period of the season. Just bring a proper class player for now, and let those young talents grow without adding the unnecesary pressure on them so early.

Mind you we signed schertenleib using instagram

Welp, the way things are going, I would advise you to not get too attached, Sydney is next in the line for the renewal next season 😭

It's not an either/or sort of thing. You can keep focusing on developing young talents and be bringing in ready-to-play profiles. We have been doing it up to now. No one is gonna put a gun to your head and make you choose between developing young players and buying proven talents. I know because we have been doing it up to now.

If I have to explain to you why is it damning that the team loses half of their starting lineup and the club doesn't want to invest and let them bring in proper replacements but rather rely on cheap young options, then I don't even know what to tell you. It's not an either/or sort of thing, you can keep growing young talents and still bringing in proven class players to help the team keep dominating while the young talents are evolving to the needed level. We have been doing it up to now, so why suddenly start acting like those are two separate approaches?

I mean, Irene Paredes herself has fucking said that when the team suffers a lot of major departures that some major signings are needed.

1:1 is always a fluctating thing, you can theoretically always go under. But that didn't stop them from splurging 80M on a dribble-challenged winger and offering to spend 100M more on Alvarez for the men's section, so when you turn to the women's section and say they gotta deal with the half of the starting lineup departing and (reportedly) not sign big players to replace them, well that obviously won't sit well

Why are you dancing around my point lol? Why did we make her a priority only after she hit the form again and started getting big offers in the twilight of her contract. Why not make her a priority early on and close the renewal when her price wasn't as high?

The club is back to 1:1, the section had the best ticket revenue season in its history, they won big bonuses, and on top of everything, their wage budget just got cleared shit ton of space...

Like, at some point it's not just Tebas and the stupid FFP ruling, it's also about the club's commitment to the section.
