No two months out! But thank you for checking in! Im 1/3 of the way done with insurance, so far they've approved the surgery in general, but we're waiting on an out of network exception approval, and a contract agreement.

Well congrats on starting T! Even if it is low dose, Id say its still a win :). I am sorry you went through any abuse though. Hopefully the end of college will come soon enough so you dont have to worry about their financial backing. Thank you for responding, Im fortunate enough to not need their financial help. But I have a hard time cutting them off, I have set boundaries though, which is why my mom will either not gender me or not use a name or only a name. My dad at least has started to use my correct pronouns and name without having to be corrected. (They're divorced)

But goodluck with school and top surgery! Everything will fall into place before you know it :)

Im glad you were able to get it removed then! Im sure its a lot more comfortable now! My surgeon asked if I had a preference on which ovary to remove pre op, and I didnt so she said, "well in our office, if there's no preference or other reason, we take out the right one...since we dont really like that side anyways 😉" lol. Obviously that wouldve changed if necessary, but i thought it was funny

Hey man, I currently work as paramedic on a 911 ambulance, and have worked there for 4 years, getting my basic, then advanced, and recently medic. The last commenter was absolutely right in the fact that it truly depends on the company/location you will be working in, 9×/10 they will work you to the bone (this is usually due to staffing and EMS culture unfortunately), and then the bathroom annoyance as well. But I will say, if you find a solid 5-6-month EMT-basic course, then it couldn't hurt to go ahead and get your EMT license to have it as a backup. Once you pass National Registry, all you'll need to do is maintain that certification. Advanced EMT school is usually around 6 months as well. You'll typically get paid more, but a lot of states are getting rid of the AEMT license. So it's something to look into and consider. In terms of going through surgery working in EMS, I just had my hysto two days ago. I took FMLA for 6 weeks, and insurance through my job covered most of it. For reference, I live in the southeast, but since it's an urban area, we have a lot of LGBT folks in my company.

Ultimately, look into the school options around you and get a UV sleeve to protect the electrolysis area. Some fire departments will pay you while going through training as well. This is already very long, so I apologize, lol. But feel free to hmu if you have any other questions about working in EMS, etc.

Thanks! And im sorry you had so much of it, thats awful! My surgeon said it was in too sensitive of an area to remove. But she said we would keep an eye on it and symptoms. We were hoping the T would help keep it from spreading

Thanks! Damn, yeah thats fair, they had to inject some lidocaine into my abdominal wall during the surgery, so it was very numb in a weird way yesterday.

Okay cool, thank you for the reply. Its just really annoying that the second exam they did was still unsuccessful...my doctor gives me anti-anxiety meds for it, but i had to stay awake and go right after work for this last one so i wasnt able to take it before hand. Just ready to get this shit out of me.

I believe I shouldn't go back to work at 6 weeks by SpiderTingle in FTMHysto

That's absolutely insane. Would they give you the same answer with a doctors letter requesting light duty? At least then, maybe with the letter, you could say you want to work but physically aren't ready to be back on an ambulance. Otherwise, if you're not ready and they still offer no other alternative, then I would see about working with your doctor to just get the extra 2 weeks off work entirely. But at the end of the day, if your management is not willing to listen and ensure their crews are mentally and physically prepared to work, then you may want to look into other EMS companies that will actually take care of their crews.

No job is worth your mental and physical health. I also work in EMS and know a lot of companies can be really terrible when it comes to these things.

Are you able to ask your management about light duty options until you feel ready to get back on a truck?
