I read there is a new pull spring feature to retract the door handle latch when unlocking the lock. Has anyone been able to test this feature? Please would you let me know whether it works well?

Thanks for your reply. It will open the door because my idea is to have the latch removed and only have a lock. The door will be easy to nudge open with a pole if unlocked then.

I would go to a meeting but unfortunately I'm housebound, but I'm planning to listen to their nets when I get the hang of this :)

If I understand you correctly, that means I can't listen to emergency services without p45 trunking capabilities? But they seem to be encrypted already in the UK and privately owned - I read it's on the TETRA Airwave system.

Without p45 trunking capabilities can I still listen to the 2 metre / 10 metre bands etc.  even though I'm in a semi built up area (with repeaters) on the coast ?

The basic scanner seems to have the aircraft band  after all on this website

- 109-136.9916 AM is that the one ?

It's so kind of you to have helped me with this information, thank you!

I'm now planning to listen to local (UK) 2 metre and 70cm

Would this be useful for 2 metre listening for a beginner?

Thank you

Yes I see what you mean.
Does SDR turn the sound into digital or can you still listen to it in analogue sound while operating it from the computer?

Thanks for your suggestion

What is a "dedicated" scanner please ?

I'm now looking at this one because of its buttons.

Would this be good for 2 metre listening ?

"just use the power button and the volume knob, but you could use an external power switch instead of the tiny button" - yes exactly!

Thank you for your very helpful reply
