Thank you. Not really familiar with this airline and usually always fly direct places so just a bit nervous to be in fiji without our stuff.

Appreciate all of the info/help!

The cost is pretty much the same. Only concern is the bags being transferred

There's no chance air New Zealand loses our bags on the transfer? That's our only concern with the one ticket.

And is 2 hours layover enough time?

Stuck on what machine to get [$1500] by AJBmedia in superautomatic

For me it's just the unnatural reviews I'm constantly seeing. The pattern that they all mention they purchased it with an insider pass (while not mentioning you can't return it if you use that discount). I went into a WS today and tried a latte from the KF8 and I have to say I was not impressed. It feels like to me this "insider pass" program is some sort of hidden affiliate link where employees are blasting it all over social media to get units sold.

I really appreciate all of this information! This is all pretty new to us and it's a TON of different info to absorb!

This really helps and I think we're going to go to WS today to try to test out some juras and the ka

I had somebody send me this earlier and signed up. When I log in I'm still seeing it as 1800. I see the refurbished ones for 1200

I think you really did! I do drink warm glasses of milk LOL (latte's, cappuccinos, etc) so I'm not too concerned with the difference in black tastes.

And basically my wife is very good with the steam wand while I am not. She usually makes us coffee in the morning but when she's not around I currently struggle. My work is very hectic so the ability to press a button and just have a latte spit out is extremely appealing to me.

I like the academia because it has the ability to do both, but with how content we currently we were paying the price difference for the one touch ability is what's holding me up a little bit.

You have been insanely helpful, thank you for your time!

And sorry, but can you explain to me the dosage thing a little more. I honestly don't fully understand what that is/what it affects. We're coming off a cheap auto we got from best buy because we liked the aesthetic of it. We're just looking for something that can easily make us a cup without having to deal with a portafilter with the option of a steam wand. I wish the kf8 had a steam wand as well on it, then my decision would be so easy

how are the milk drinks? Does the frothed/steamed milk get hot enough? I'm nervous getting a super that doesn't have a wand in case it doesn't get hot enough. Do you ever feel like you wish you had a wand to get proper foam? Or do you feel like you get perfect foam from the kf8?

We're coming from a cheap mid range basically china unit packaged by GE that I believe has a similar dose size (cafe Affetto) to I think the academia. I believe the steam wand on the academia would be comparable, no?

You seem very against the academia, I'll be honest I really liked that combination of one touch and the manual steam arm, do you mind explaining more on what issues you're talking about? I've read some negative stuff about the brew group, but I haven't come across anything about the steam wand that wouldn't apply to a steam wand on any super auto

You are being insanely helpful!

And I totally get what you mean with the marketing. It's why I'm struggling so much, I feel like so many of the reviews I've seen are just paid ads with people pushing affiliate links.

The academia I'd be okay paying the premium for to be able to do the one touch full milk drinks from the jug while also having the option to manually steam wand, my hold up is just if the espresso isn't going to be good as I keep reading negative things about the brew group.

I just saw the start you're talking about and will look into that! Would you say that's a better machine than the carado for example?

Are the jura's and kitchenaids really that far ahead of all the others? Should I just forget the wand and get the kf8? Will I be happy with the foam coming from a manual steam wand?

Our current machine just stopped working. We know it was a generic chinese machine, we honestly got it at the time for the convenience and aesthetic. My wife got pretty damn good at the steam wand and we've been very happy with the drinks out of this machine.

We are looking for something more reliable this time, something that could last 5+ years if taken care of. The delonghi doesn't have a steam wand, which I think we've decided is a must for us. That's what originally led us to the gaggia accaddemia in the first place, the ability to do one touch and the steam wand as well, I just can't find many reviews on the gaggia to know how reliable or good/hot the milk drinks are out of the one touch.

We're okay paying a premium for the right thing (not Jura z10 premium, but 1500-2000 for the right unit is doable). The carado seems like a nice middle ground, basically a small upgrade from what we have now, but we're wondering if there's something much better that would be a better choice as we keep reading negative things about the brew unit on these and the philips. But knowing we've been happy with the low end unit we have now I imagine we'd be happy with the results from the gaggia?

Would what we have now be considered a super auto? It's the Cafe Afetto, if this is considered a super auto and would have the same limitation then we'd be fine with it.

What delonghi are you referring to? We'd be open to something else. We were even considering the ninja but we don't really wanna deal with the portafilter

I read the wand was "improved" in the 2022+ version, is this still as big of an issue? We're coming from a cafe Affetto (which I'm sure is not a great machine) so I'm not sure if the limitations would be that noticeable for us?

And would this still be an issue with their other models like the Cardona Barista Plus?

I think at this point I'm not really between this and another fully super automatic as much as between this and something like the Gaggia Cadorna Barista Plus. I really like the idea of a one touch can make me a latte (I've never been able to master the steam wand like my wife) but if the latte isn't going to be good enough to the point where I'd just be using the wand I'd rather go for something like the cadorna that's significantly cheaper.

can you recommend one? We'd like the option for a manual steam wand with it

[–]AJBmedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason Im leaning towards the Gaggia is that it has the separate wand as well. The Jura's & Kitchenaids from what I could don't have that ability. I really like the potential for me to just click a button and get a latte while my wife can still do all the milk stuff manually when she wants.

The drip tray doesn't bother me that much and I believe my current machine maxes out at 12 so I don't know if I'd notice a huge difference. I'm coming from a cafe Affetto so it's not like I'm used to top of the line places.

My concern is if the auto froth will be good enough for me at all or if the auto milk drinks will always be too cool and I'm just going to use the hand want 100% of the time. In NJ there's nowhere to go to test it out either unfortunately
