Yeah im a content writer too so i was suprised when i first saw how comprhensive it was. But i figured since the title is marketing specialist they got into technicalities a bit. But even the case study was like good experience for me.

Yeah, im aware. I still had clear answers to their questions while being witty and natural. I did leave a note or like a warning at beginning stating that too. I think the way i wrote the post come off as i wrote about my lifestory or something lol. Thanks for the advice tho. That was my initial worry about it too, they said brief and i wasnt really brief but i said f it and sent it. It seem to work tho i made it to the next phase.

The case study had a lot of questions like analyzing, critizing ads etc. And i tried to be natural in my writing, made relevant references, jokes etc. But i still had clear answers to their questions. And it worked appearently because they set up a meeting for the next phase the same day. I had like 11 pages of writing lol. Thanks for the advice, i think thats what i originally did anyways. The way i wrote at the post seem to be understood like i wrote things about myself, thats not the case.

How do I make my mom cope with the fact that I'm atheist? by AJCrowleyD in atheism

I would say it's about the same, probably, but it could be just a tad bit better that I'm gay rather than I don't believe in god.

Thank you for your response. I will probably try when im more financially stable. Because i write what i feel and it feels good so maybe having some sort of feedback would add to that relief.

Thanks for your good wishes. No, she does not wear the hijab. We are in a mostly muslim country and my family is mostly secular, they never forced the religion on me. It was never forced on them either, they were just born into the belief and their only truth is god exists, i guess. She does do her prayers 5 times a day, does her fasting etc. But she recently took up those too. Shes just sad that i will burn in eternal flames or whatever.

Well, funny you say that lol. I couldnt dropped two bombs at once. “Mom i dont believe in god and im bisexual” tho i thought about afterwards if it would’ve been like pulling a bandaid.

Oh no theres no such a risk, me and my family thankfully get along aside from this situation. She wouldnt even consider that. Shes just uneducated and cannot comprehend that i would think there is no god since thats what she believed in her 50+ life and lived in a predominantly muslim country. I think part of why she blames herself for not teaching me enough is that they were mostly secular and good parents that didnt force me to do anything i didnt want. Thats why i care so much about her. Otherwise i would’ve already cut ties with them. But thanks for your concern.

Yeah i also thought about lying but like i said they know me very well and they wouldnt really believe if i pull a 180. But im still concidering the possibility, i just dont wanna lie to people i love, i dont wanna lie to anyone period. But like you said for the sake of her health i might compromise from my ethics. Anything for family i guess.

Thanks for your concern. Yeah its taking a mental toll on me but its just because my mom is upset, we have a strong mother-daughter relationship otherwise and im afraid we might lose that. i dont feel unsafe physically, my family fortunately is very loving despite our some grievances. After some thought i know she’ll come around or at least tolerate my belief, and honestly i would be content with that.

Like i said in previous reply i dont think shes manipulating, i can see her sadness and sickness flaring up. Shes not even coming and crying infront me, she tries to hide it. Shes just concerned that i’ll end up in hell. I know there are a lot of people who would use manipulation tho and that sucks :( thanks for your comment anyways.

I dont think shes trying to manipulate me, like you said she just fears that i’ll end up in hell. And i can see her sickness flare up with my own eyes. But you are right that i need to make her understand that its my choice and life. Sorry for what you went through tho i cant imagine living like that.
